Anyone else wears CRYOS plantar orthosis?
... Cause my podiatrist prescribe them to me. It's my 1st week of wearing them about 1 to 3 hours a day. They are OK, no discomfort, but it's not my fist time, I've been wearing other kind of orthosis since 4 years or so.
But, those CRYOS Home - Cryos Technologies kind cost me the skin of my butt .w.:, but they last 3 times more, so will see.
My uggly right foot is disformed front arthritis: level 4 bunion (doctor's talk, they prescribe surgery when your at level 5,m::), second toe add surgery in '94 for neuroma syndrome, and lately I've been having pain and swelling under the 2nd and 3rd toes (could be neuroma syndrome again!..cr.:).
So my Doc is now worry that my left foot could also be in trouble soonner or later because when I walk the pressure is now on the left side (unconsciously trying to put less on the right one).
Anywoo, I'll be back for a new eveluation on March 1st to see (let's hope) the progress.
Please, share your less "happy feet" adventure with me! ..g.:

Re: Anyone else wears CRYOS plantar orthosis?
I've talked about all this here before, but I had bunion surgery in 2004 and while I lost a TINY bit of my range of motion, its was seriously the best thing I could have done. I went from always in pain to NONE! (My procedure was the type where they cut the metatarsal, remove a piece and screq back together, and scrape out the arthritis and repair the joint of the big toe at the same time.) When my other foot is bad enough, I wont hesitate to have it done again.
I also have orthotics (not sure which), but to be honest, birkenstock high-arch sandals offer me the most comfort (even if they are as ugly as sin).

Re: Anyone else wears CRYOS plantar orthosis?
Not a personal experience but my former dance teacher had a continuing problem with a ripped plantar over 18 months so she had orthotics for some time. After persuasion she took to dancing in shoes for a while - she went for the ones that Jillina apparently wears - and found that made a world of difference to her daily comfort level, in dancing and life in general.
Before she was dancing barefoot and then going back to her normal shoes (and orthotic) afterward

Re: Anyone else wears CRYOS plantar orthosis?
..l;,..l;,..l;, Inside the house at wear my fire red Croc clogs, they remind me of Mr. M&M's big shoes!

@khadiya: I can't stand dancing barefoot (especialy while training an rehearsing) I wear ballet splippers and recently (and other advice for my Doc) I wear special socks with them: the sole of each sock is made of gel.
Once or twice, for short perfomances, I didn't want to wear shoes but I wore nude color foot tongs to protect the balls of my feet. But still I prefer to hide my feet and cover them. Don't want to disturb the general public
..l;, my right foot don't even look human anymore .w.:,f::
Thanks for sharing ladies

Re: Anyone else wears CRYOS plantar orthosis?
I wanted to start a new thread but I think it's approriate to post here instead.
I have fallen arches (flat feet) and have been wearing custom orthotics ($400 every 3-4 years) in my shoes. I have bunions in both big toes but the left is the worst. I prefer dancing barefoot (looks better and feels better in terms of earthiness) but I'm realizing this isn't going to work for too much longer. Basically, I have an almost constant dull ache in my left bunion. I wear practical flat shoes everyday (no heels, ever!). I love hiking the mountains so I even wear my trail running shoes at work (I'm a teacher).
My podiatrist said he believes surgery is always the patient's choice and so never pushes for it. But, he is happy to discuss it if I'm interested. He suggested that if I am interested in exploring that route it should be sooner rather than later (before arthritis sets in which slows healing). I plan on discussing it with him soon. He said that unlike old-fashioned surgery, they don't cut anything away (since there is no growth to remove), they just re-align the joint. With a corrected alignment (this is where the orthotics come in) the bunion should not return.
With that in mind, I need a dance shoe option that provides the arch support (mega!) I need but that still has that nude, barefoot look - no heels or gross, clunky shoes! I currently use leather/suede half soles for padding the ball of my foot but they provide no arch support.
Any suggestions? Show me pictures and URL links. And THANK YOU for helping.Last edited by Hala Jamal; 04-29-2010 at 06:18 PM.

Re: Anyone else wears CRYOS plantar orthosis?
There was no "growth" in my feet either, but most bunions happen not because of bad shoes, but because the first metatarsal is too long and it jacks up the joint angle. The solution for me (and my friends who have had it done) was to split that metatarsal, remove a piece and screw back together. The joint is THEN realigned and the bunion doesnt come back because the whole foot is now "correct" (even without orthotics).
For dance shoes though, you might try a split sole ballet slipper with an elastic arch, is it mega support, but its definitely noticeable.
