I have a hernia! It sucks!

Actually, it pinches. My BELLY BUTTON hurt -- and when I went to the ED, I found out that I have a small hernia. No dancing, weightlifting, swimming or anything until it is repaired.

I'm so bummed. I was just on a new roll with exercising and forging forward, and now I have to dead stop. All I can do is walk.

Here's hoping I can get it resolved quickly.

    grrrrrr

I have had 3 at different times. Surgery was not bad, recovery fast and easy. I used the time to read, work on beadwork, rest and do computer work. The first day I needed help getting out of bed so I opted to stay in a recliner. Much easier to sit up.

Thanks for the news. I was hoping someone had had the experience (sorry, but you know what I mean)...so I'd know what might happen. It just seems like such a guy problem, although I know it's not. I read online that it's not uncommon in babies too.

Re: I have a hernia! It sucks!

I was anxious prior to my first surgery, the next 2 were much less stressful. This is a bit personal but the reason I needed help the first day was in order to leave the bed and have access to the bathroom. (Trying to rid my body of the meds I was drinking as much water as possible. I wanted to avoid a kidney or bladder infection. That has been a frequent problem for me after surgery.) Staying in the recliner simplified that tender first day. I also kept a pillow by my side in case I had to cough or sneeze. I wore sweat pants for comfort. Although you did not mention it I will volunteer my scars are not visible. I have tried to locate them but no success. That is also a bonus.

Thanks for sharing. Did you have an umbilical hernia? That is apparently my problem. I actually haven't been overly concerned (yet, anyway) with the scar issue-- I have very large total Frankenstein-stitch scar on my hip, so that will trump any others that I acquire. And I'm long past any desires to wear a bikini!!
