    Post-pregnancy foot issues?

I'm 11 weeks out from giving birth, and as I'm beginning to take long walks with my daughter in her carrier (it was way too cold to walk around at first with her), I'm noticing that my feet are KILLING me! It's mostly in my toes and the balls of my feet, and a bit in the heels. Before my pregnancy, and up to about 7 months, I was a walker. I'm used to walking everywhere, all over New York. But the last couple of months were really painful and exhausting, and I really didn't walk around much, because it hurt the ligaments in my lower abdominals too much. Could it be that my feet aren't used to walking anymore? How could a few months off have that big an effect? Or was it the weight of the pregnancy?

I've been working out at relatively high intensity since she was 4 weeks old, and that doesn't seem to cause me any problems. It's just walking! Did anyone else experience this? I come home feeling like my toes got stepped on, hard!

    1) Remember that your feet have probably adjusted while you were pregnant to help you balance the extra weight you were carrying.

    2) They are now starting to adjust back to a different weight

    3) are you carrying Rosie? If you are, have you looked at how you are stepping / placing the weight on your feet. (Sometimes, there is a tendency to walk with your weight more forward. Which would give you the feeling that your toes are being smashed.) Make sure you have the carrier properly adjusted so that the extra weight is properly balanced.

    4) and yes, your feet, like any other part of you which isn't used as frequently as before, will get out of shape and loose some endurance. Odd, I know, but there it is. Also, unless there was some problems due to hormonal changes, it is reversible.

ETA: Once again, I am going to suggest that if this continues, speak to a Dr. or even a trainer about this. They may be able to suggest changes in how you are walking as well as seeing if there is a physical change which needs to be looked at.

Thanks, Tahira! I should also say that it hurts when I'm not the one carrying her, as well. I think I will ask a podiatrist about this if it continues. It's weird!
