wii - can it keep your interest long-term?
I am debating about buying a wii fit system. Wondering if any of you who have had one for a while have found that you lost interest and don't use it much any more or if it has managed to keep your interest and keep you motivated.
Through the years I have purchased many exercise items, dvds, etc. I do great at first but can't seem to stay interested and motivated. I have been hearing from some people that they think the wii is dfferent somehow. My husband thinks I have wasted too much $$ on these things (he calls my treadmill a boat anchor) - I have to admit he is right that I don't seem to stick with anything, just a spurt here and a spurt there.
What do Bhuzzers think? Thanks..g.:

I'm interested in the responses you get to this. I bought the wii fit hoping that it would be fascinating and fun. So far, no. But maybe I'm missing something...

No the wii will not hold your interest for long. It is really failing as a console in general.

Two replies so far - and both don't sound good for wii but great for my pocketbook! I appreciate your responses.

Re: wii - can it keep your interest long-term?
I have the Wii fit. I enjoy it BUT you really need to come up with ways to use it beyond the original game. (BTW - the Wii console I LOVE and would never buy another kind. Especially with my kids. It's way more fun than just pushing buttons). For example, when the "free-step" became too easy for me I went and bought a Reebok step and put the Wii fit on that and whoa! was I sore the next day. Being able to weigh yourself and chart your progress is nice. Plus, you can add the excersize you do beyond the game. In a nut shell, I love the console, the Wii fit is a good idea but the excersizes will get old after awhile.
Although, now that I know I can use the Free run to work on my shimmies and the hula hooping to work on my ommis I may have to use it for that too. ..l;,
Hope that helps.

I got pretty bored with WiiFit after a couple of months. However, I love my Wii for other gaming, and I still am not bored at all with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, both of which can give you a bit of a workout too. I was doing the sword duel game just last night and I broke into quite a sweat.
For other

Ours has not seen a ton of use, because there just isn't that much to do with it. After the initial burst of activity, it got a bit dull.

Re: wii - can it keep your interest long-term?
I'm so glad I asked. With my history of getting bored fairly quickly with exercise equipment it sounds like the wii is not a good investment for me. Sounds like I should just get myself drilling with dvds a bit more for now.
Bhuz is a fantastic place!

I just want to add that the other games, bowling, tennis, boxing, etc....are fun and are a workout! I was sooo sore after playing tennis for a couple of hours to say nothing of the sweating! Boxing really get the heart going too and the Vancouver Winter Olympics is a hoot!
