    want to gain weight!

i love my body and have no real issues except that i have lost so much weight the last year and a half its not even funny. i currently weigh 115. why is this bad? well when i gain weight it goes directly into my bust and butt. so the ten pounds i have lost have been in those two areas and it has not made me happy. thankfully i am skinny but curvacious still, but being latin i like that extra oomph. i have been doing protein shakes and increasing my calories but due to a recent set back lost the couple of pounds i managed to gain in the last two months. any advice?

Maybe see you nutritionist and also have your thyroid checked (could be over active) and some other quick check ins with your doctor. If keeping weight on has always been a problem, probably nothing has changed but if you've experienced recent rapid weight loss and difficulty regaining weight w/out any major life or diet changes you should see a doctor.

Make yourself a milkshake everyday w/ whole milk and cane sugar? Eat ice cream on a regular basis? Perhaps you could bulk up... more protein and do exercises that build muscle in the pecks and glutes.

is the weightloss issue relatively new? if so, you may want to be checked for hyperthyroid. otherwise, i'll be happy to donate to you. how many pounds would you like ;)

in all seriousness, if you are going the heavy dairy diet route, i highly suggest organic/hormone free dairy, for the obvious reasons. the best way i know to gain weight is to eat lots of grain based carbs. also nuts, nut butters and cooking with coconut oil are all healthy, calorie packed options.

Fried chicken, mash potatoes, country gravy, bisquits. Then a big slice of apple pie with ice cream! If that doesn't work I don't know what will!

& this just goes to show that everyone puts on pounds differently- the above mentioned diet keeps me pretty darn slim- heck, I am in danger of not getting enough fats in my diet.

For most folks, Dairy definitely can help put on pounds (anyone see that National G a few years ago about the African group with the weight gain contests- drinking only milk for a year had some interesting effects!)

I had major unhealthy weight loss because of allergies- the doctors thought it was my thyroid, and in part it was, but only because allergy induced intestinal bleeding apparently compromises thyroid function. If you are concerned with abnormal weight loss, please do see a doctor! If you just want a little more padding, I've got a chocolate torte with your name on it ..g.:

Ohhhhhh, WTF dude? You've got exactly the type of body I want! Slim with nice curves. I think you look great, so there

You could pack on some pounds by eating a buttload of unhealthy food, but I'd advise against it. I tried this back when I was feeling really desperate to put on some weight, and felt sick, lethargic and gross. Plus, all the junk I ate made my skin look totally craptacular. It's a quick fix, but it'll catch up to ya ..c::

All of Sabrina's suggestions are good. I like to snack on nuts, healthy carbs, moderate portions of cheese, avocados, etc. Mini meals throughout the day are great. While I'm genetically incapable of getting killer curves, I look my healthiest (and have the most energy) when I consume enough calories to replace what I burn through dancing. It sounds like you dance a LOT, so definitely find some healthy calorie-dense snacks to eat throughout the day.

    Are you going through a lot of stress? The "Stress Diet" will definitely do it to ya ,r:;

You could eat huge amounts of junk food like pizza, chips and chocolate but then your energy levels will diminish rapidly and your complexion will probably look tired. It is better to concentrate on healthy fatty foods like bananas, strawberries, nuts, pasta etc and a lot of smoothies as they are full of calories but healthy and give you energy. ..g.:

Get your thyroid checked. Otherwise, I agree with eating more fried chicken and mashed potatoes! And don't forget the chocolate cake for dessert! Although I would balance it out with healthier high calorie foods like nuts and cheese and all kinds of fruits.

yah the stress diet def happened this week but before that it was tough anyways to gain weight. i used to dance more actually a coupe of years ago, but i was able to maintain my weight. This year i still dance a ton but one day less at least than previous years, but i lost like ten pounds! (which on people as petitte as us looks like twenty pounds lost). its just stressing me out... i have all my costumes not fitting right;(

When you say you want to gain weight, do you mean you want to gain muscle and not fat?

You can visit this website and download the free PDF report.

How to gain weight and build muscle mass fast!

But essentially you want to increase protein and complex carbs. Some pineapple or citrus fruit will help digest the meat proteins if you are having trouble eating meat.

    Weight training is also essential.

Well...not to speak for the OP, but breast size change in adults is mostly fat, as is a lot of the hip padding. She probably lost fat when she lost weight, so to get her old figure back, she'd need to gain fat, right?

Weight training or strength exercises are essential for a long, healthy life, and help with giving a good shape. But the OP probably only lost a little muscle, not a lot...so she probably should model her activity on what she did before, if her figure is her primary concern. ;)

    Re: want to gain weight!

I was 115 lb for all of my teenage and adult life, and only over the past year or so gained about 10 lb.
I always ate a lot of junk food and never seemed to gain weight.

Nowadays I can't say I eat healthy, but I eat a lot more fruit, veggies, and healthier regular meals in addition to some junk ;)

What seemed to do the trick was getting on birth control. I went from an A to a B cup, and even got a little bit of a belly (which I've wanted ever since I started belly dancing). I always had fairly wide hips and a big butt but they got bigger, too. Well, basically everything got a little more cushion and I'm no longer a bony mess. I love it. I could use another 10 lb, if you ask me!

You might already be on birth control and if you aren't of course I wouldn't recommend that you do it to gain weight... but if it's something you're already considering for other reasons, that can be a nice advantage!

thanks yes thats exaclty what i mean. i lost the "cushion" the fat that gave me bigger boobs and bum. Of course I want to gain healthy fat so it doesnt turn to bad fat so i am drinking protein and increasing my carb intake. I am thinking of buying a diff kind of protein shake now that has a higher carb count. My body is pretty much all muscle so buildig up more of that is not what i want. i am muscular but with curves and a slender frame overall.

Good on you for making the appointment. If you have had any other unexplained symptoms during your period of weight loss, mention them to your doc as well - ie: changes in your menstrual period, changes in your hair/nail thickness or condition, emotional changes (such as mood swings, irritability, aggression, feelings of panic), lethargy or unexplained tiredness, sense of being jittery or shakey, etc. If you haven't had any weird physical symptoms, let your doc know that too! Any info you can give him/her will help interpret the test scores.

Pectoral and glute exercises can help make your boobs/butt look perkier by holding up whatever padding you have left on them! :D

    Re: want to gain weight!

I'm having the same problem. During my teens I was about 115, during my early 20s 120-125 during my late 20s 125-130. Now that I'm 30 I'm back to 120 and I don't like it at all. Most of my new booty is gone and by breasts have went from a B to an A. I'm really trying to accept my body and not complain especially since most women would love to be 120. But I just don't like it.

I'm a Vegan and lactose intollerant so I can't do dairy and fried chicken, I'd just be sick and my IBS wouuld act up eliminating all those calories immediately anyway. I had been sick and stressed but that was months ago. I've since been trying to eat more oils and avocados and nuts, fried peanut butter sandwhiches, almond milk chocolate shakes and adding honey or agave to things. But I'm still hovering at about 120. I'd really like to be 130-140 but I don't know how to get there. Also I just don't think it looks as good for the dance. Nothing seems to shake much. Where has my little bit of jiggle gone?

If you want to gain weight then you must have a diet plan and eat a balanced diet. Carbohydrates are very good to gain weight. Exercises also increase your appetite and help in gaining weight.
