please let us know how you like them. i had the very 1st vhs they made, and wore it out. loved it.

i'm still training in yoga 1-2x week and modern dance 1-2x week, as my schedule permits. my arms are starting to look different in addition to gradually becoming stronger. bonus!

    what about everyone else?

I'm going to resume doing free weights and some pilates for the core area. Since I'm still unemployed, I might as well get in shape while I have the time, lol!

my friend and i did a whole lot better at aerial arts last night, we were both so proud and happy. my whole body is sore though, i actually woke up in the middle of night with my abs hurting lol

unfortunately, i injured my toe last night and its all bruised up today which is causing me to limp :( so i have to miss a dance class tonight, hopefully it'll get better real soon..

    Re: May Cross-Training Thread

I'm going to start working out at home. I have dumbells and ankle weights - I used to work at a gym so I know what to do. I started doing this back in January and kept it up for a good month. The problem with me is that I either do it consistently or not at at all.
I was doing either lower body one day, upper body next, 6 days out of the week with one day rest, or sometimes full body every other day.
But then I feel off the wagon :( and never got back up...
I felt that the split body / every day was better, because if I skipped a day, I picked it up the next day, and the day was rest. But when I did the whole body workout, if I skipped one day I more likely skipped another one... Also doing half body at a time could be done in 20 minutes, in the morning or at night, but when I was doing whole body routines, it would take an hour, so I did not always find the time, hence the skipping. I think that's how and why I stopped, actually.

I've been doing the Tracy Anderson Method and I like it but I'm kind of bored with it now...I'm planning on trying "Exhale - Core Fusion". I previewed it on Netflix. Anyone try it?

    Re: May Cross-Training Thread

I got a little out of training the past two weeks with finals and graduation, but that's all done now!

I plan on picking up my program a bit and working with the dance DVDs I have to see which I'm keeping and which I'm ready to let go. Other than that, I plan to continue the outdoor strength training/long walks with the dog and maybe try some new group fitness classes at the gym. I'm still taking ballet when I get the chance too.

    Re: May Cross-Training Thread

question: are there any turns in belly dance, that are not the pivot-type turns / spins? I'm talking about the ones that we do in place.
Yesterday, during ice skating the light bulb went off: I'm only used to the type of turns in which my whole center is on one foot (usually left, for me) and then I use the right foot to turn. Or I can spin on 1 foot pretty well, but it's still the same system, I'm using the right foot to turn me, etc.
In skating, the spins with both feet require the center in the middle, over both feet, and I have such a hard time with that. But now at least I know why.

So I'm just trying to see if this new technique would actually benefit me in dancing?

At least I know spinning on 1 foot won't be so different, although right now that doesn't seem possible...
