Re: The Smoothie Thread
pretty much anything in the fridge!
favorites lately:
1)ginger juice (can just grate fresh ginger, I grate & then squeeze in a lemon press)
frozen blueberries, banana for texture, apple juice, flax seeds
2)banana, frozen strawberries, brewers yeast, yogurt (I use goat)
3)I had a bunch of carrots about to go bad, so I boiled them, purreed them & stuck them in the freezer in the ice cube trays & a couple slightly larger containers- so, carrot cubes, orange juice, blueberries & blackberries- added mango once instead of berries & that was a hit too.
also did strawberry lemonade with the frozen strawberries, lemon juice & stevia extract- mmmm!

Re: The Smoothie Thread
I do! Actually I juice everything because the texture of the green smoothies weird me out.. I usually use spinach, but I've also used lettuce, kale, collards (not for the faint at heart) LOL.
Big giant handful of spinach,
bunch parsley or cilantro
1 cucumber,
2 stalks celery,
2 small apples,
1/2 large lemon (or 1 small one)
1/2 large lime (or 1 small one)
about a thumb size piece of ginger
This makes about two glass fulls and I usually drink both in the morning. Soooo yummy (although it does take some getting used to)
I've also made a cilantro, mango, and pineapple smoothie which was pretty good as well

Re: The Smoothie Thread
Filling breakfast chocolate banana smoothie:
1 banana
hand full of kale (you can't taste it)
sprinkling of goji berries, hemp seeds and/or ground flax
A few spoon fulls of raw cocoa powder
Agave and/or dates to sweeten
coconut water to thin it out a bit, or just water
If you freeze the coconut water and banana you can make it a frozen smoothie
Easy Fruit Smoothie:
orange juice
frozen strawberries
a splash of almond milk or milk/yogurt for you milk eaters ;-)
Ice or frozen oj as needed if you want it more frozen
Super Summer Fruit Smoothie:
(This is also a fantastic cold soup)
watermelon
green grapes
honeydew or cantaloupe
bit of lime juice
bit of agave
Pulse in blender and chill for a chunky cold soup or blend well for a smoothie

Re: The Smoothie Thread
Mine involves my juicer...blender would work though too, it'd just be more chunky.
I'm not adding amounts because I never use a set amount necessarily, plus you can customize, but usually my favorite blend includes:
--Oranges (not many for me as I'm not really into them)
--Apples
--Pears (sometimes)
--Carrots
--Pineapple
You could add other "exotic" fruits as well, just that I never yet have; I think it'd be great to try mango, for example.
Blend with banana, coconut milk and, if you want, vanilla yogurt (or if you want, ice cream!).
Sometimes I'll add back in some of the fruit pulp for more texture.
I think I maybe tried adding ginger once or twice too.
This stuff is really addictive. REALLY. ADDICTIVE.

Re: The Smoothie Thread
I thought of papaya, though it's not my favorite fruit, but I've bought one exactly once and didn't understand how to tell they were ripe, so my papaya experience went flop. I'm too scared to try again. :)
I've actually always wanted to try those. I'm small enough busted to get away with not wearing a bra under tank tops, but I always do so I don't look like I'm smuggling tic-tacs. Have you tried those? The Bunheads ones are reusable, right? Do they work? I mean, you don't trade nipple-age for a different weird nipple-cover-shaped bump?hahahah, i totally thought this was gonna be a thread about these things:
(Okay, done hijacking thread, lol)
