    Manuka honey 5+? 10+? 15+? 20+? 25+?

    hello!

because my tummy is huge and doctor doesn't know what's wrong with me until i have some checks, i've started taking manuka honey, since it's supposed to do magic with digestive system. and it won't harm me (only my wallet!) even if what i have is unrelated to digestive organs.

i'm taking 5+, i bought it a while ago for my mum because i didn't know if we like the taste and it was the cheapest. now the jar is finishing i wonder if i should buy the same or the higher +.

would the bigger number help me more, work on my tummy faster? i will probably order from this site 康他
i guess the highest number would be the best and work fastest, but it's very very expensive so i want to find out if it's worth it.

have you or your friends and family try using manuka honey for curing health problem before? did it work? how long did it take to start working?

    thank you x

I have a 12 and 25 umf in the fridge. The 25 has a stronger smell of antiseptic. I do not know if the honey will fix your problem.

It's just honey. Eat it if you like it.

The number is the UMF, unique manuka factor. According to this random US site I found, the most therapeutic factor is 16-18. Really high factors may actally cause you problems.

Active Manuka Honey is used for Acid Reflux, Heartburn, Stomach Ulcers, now available in the USA

This NZ site - which I would be inclined to trust more because it's not selling a particular brand, and also, it's OUR honey - says a bit lower.
Active Manuka Honey Association - the official UMF honey producer's site

A lot of people have allergic issues with honeys, just as they do with bee stings, so it's more sensible to try a lower one first anyway. Also, don't expect it to work immediately, it's not paracetamol.

I have used UMF manuka honey a lot in my life but largely because it tastes so good. Hmm, I want to buy some now.

hello Hubic, yes, not sure if it'll help but honey doesn't harm and i like the taste!

hello Zumarrad, thanks for doing research for me!

which brand do you use? people i know in hongkong all buy comvita. is it really better or just better marketing?

yes, i don't expect honey to work fast. like chinese medicine it works slowly. i'm enjoying the fact that the first thing i put into my mouth every morning is sweet!

Comvita is a very well known brand. If it's real Comvita it should be fine.

Manuka honey is so delicious. Not everyone likes the taste but I love it.

I had a look last night in the fridge again. I have a 20+umf that is Comvita. The other one is 12+umf from Medibee.

I was using the 20+ externally on my hand in what I eventually found out was eczema. At the time I bought it I didn't know what was wrong with the skin on my hand and I read somewhere that some hospitals use Manuka honey as a topical dressing for antibiotic resistant bugs.

The 12+ I think was given as a gift from someone who was in NZ for a holiday. I use it if I have a cold or something like that.
