    Endometriosis and dance

Just wondering if anyone has endo, and if they notice any issues when they dance? I am noticing that I am now started to be affected when I have a full night of dance. Seems I can really tell that it gets irritated... anyone else?

Does your case respond to Aleve or ibuprofen? Have you tried taking a dose before you dance?

It seems to help mine when it flares.

I hadn't thought about that, thanks!

I had all my parts removed several years ago...my life changed in fabulous ways. I had endometriosis for so many years and it finally got to me. I was in such pain. When I had my hysterectomy, the sun came out. Nothing ever killed that pain. I can't imagine life like that again. I live every day pain free now.

    Re: Endometriosis and dance

My endo pain seems worse at night or when I am very stressed. I find that some light physical activity actually helps relieve some of the pain. When my pain is between a 3-6 I can usually tolerate about 1 hour of a moderately paced dance class, brisk walking, or something like hatha or iyengar yoga. Anything more vigorous is out of the question, but something right in the middle can sometimes help me push through the pain. Its probably a combination of endorphins & distraction.
If its a long night in the studio where I've been at the day job for 8 hours, taught 2 back-to-back classes and then have 2 hours of rehearsal--then it just plain hurts and I'm almost immobilized. Late night gigs are hard too--probably a because I'm fatigued from a full day. An NSAID pain reliever can be helpful. I also love a hot water bottle or hot rice pad, the weight and heat feel sooooo good. When I don't have a gig and its just a long night in the studio I'll sometimes get one of the therma-care patches and wear that. http://www.thermacare.com/product/back-hip.aspx
They just recalled the menstrual one I noticed when I went to get the link, but I never get that one. I just use the lower back version. Its fabulous.
On a side note, do any of the other endo folks find that even stretchy yoga pants hurt on the worst days? My abdomen gets so bloated and the inflammation is so painful that even soft waisted pants hurt to wear. I have a few loose dresses but I have to admit I've been tempted to get a pair of maternity jeans or pants for the really bad days when I have a meeting at work or something where I have to look more put together...

Lucky. I did 2 full courses of depo-lupron and was pain free for almost 1 year during the treatment but along with it came terrible depression, anxiety, insomnia, hot flashes, 15lbs of weight gain and within 2 months of my last shot, the pain returned. I've also had laproscopic surgery and ablation but the implants came right back within a couple of months. I want everything removed but since I haven't had children my doctor won't consider it & wants me to get a Mirena. Nope, not willing to go to the trouble and expense after the depo experience. I've been in pain for over 20 years and every once in a while I'll have a 100% pain free day and its kind of overwhelming because I feel so free and comfortable and it reminds me of how uncomfortable I am every other day.
