Thread: lump in throat

i have a lump in my throat. i'm going to the doctor tomorrow. it seems to be this http://www.voicedoctor.net/therapy/cps.html and i hope it is, instead of something more serious....

anyone has experience this lump in throat thing?

Don't let them try to convince you that it's just stress. I had two docs tell me that, until I finally asked my husband's doctor if maybe it was from acid reflux. He told me to try Prevacid (or whatever the OTC version of it is) and that fixed it for me.

It made me feel like I was always full, which meant I didn't eat as much, which was a plus. Sort of. At times (like during class) when I was talking over the music, I would start to lose my voice, which was NOT a plus.

Hope you get a simple and easily-fixed diagnosis!!

Aziyade, did you have other symptoms other than the annoying thing in your throat? i am fine otherwise only the annoying thing makes me tired. mmm.... i've been eating a lot late at night and i never eat at regular hour. maybe stomach complaining...

I didn't have any other symptoms except a slight heartburn, but I've had that for years, and I still get it (even on Prilosec) if I drink too much.

Your lump might be thyroid related. That can mess with your appetite and sleep schedule. Let's hope it's not thyroid -- that can be really hard to regulate.

Hopefully not but nodules in the neck/on the thyroid can give you this feeling of something in your throat, depending on the size. And would play with your energy levels. Better keep this in mind if your appointment tomorrow doesn't give you the answers you're looking for.

my GP thinks it's acid reflux. she saw from my record that i had bloated tummy since september last year from flying (i'm a flight attendant). i always burp a lot and sometimes i can feel the acid coming up too. doctor gave me gaviscon. she said to try this for one week. if it doesn't help then she will send me to the throat doctor.
