I agree. No pix = possible fairy tale. Pix are a must. Share or donate the costume to someone else.

May sound like a daft question but why is there suddenly a need for a male forum?

Has there been a recent situation which has brought this on by us excluding men?

Its fine either way. I know this subject was discussed many years ago (2002 or earlier). "Another Forum" has one - I'm even a moderator on it - and it *does* seem to help bring out the bashful beginners and "thinkingaboutits".

In any event, it makes more sense than a face***k page!

I don't visit here often, but I thought the same thing as Caroline.
What issues do male dancers face that isn't already included elsewhere, or won't be applicable, or of interest to, all dancers?
But I agree with Zorba's comment, and time will tell whether its used.
Good on Bhuz for reviewing itself and trying new ideas.

Re: Welcome to our new male dancers forum!

I understand why someone would wonder why male dancers need their own forum - since there are STILL PEOPLE WHO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THEM! Idiotic, isn't it?

So I hope this serves as a step along the way to WELCOMING them into bellydance classes everywhere...

Re: Welcome to our new male dancers forum!

It might possibly help a male beginner, unsure of his position or acceptance within the community, to see ‘male dancers’ instantly acknowledged. But on the other hand I’m not comfortable with singling men out as a sub-category within bellydance. I see it as sending out confused messages – either men are accepted, acknowledged and present throughout the forum, or men are so different they need to have a separate area just for them. Yes, men do receive a degree of negative response as dancers, but that varies widely within personal experience and perception. If the reason for the ‘male dancers forum’ is to battle prejudice (and I can’t think of any other issue a man would have that can’t be included in the already existing forums), wouldn’t we be better off having a ‘discrimination forum’ and allow people to complain about/share their experiences of all the various issues that can be encountered - gender, weight, age, disability, height, etc.?

Re: Welcome to our new male dancers forum!

Whenever there is a minority within a larger group, it is always good for them to have a space for them to talk without being drowned out by the majority.

Therefore I now shut up. Male dancers, enjoy.
