About Me

Dancing since 1976, on the West Coast of the U.S. My first teachers included Feiruz Aram, Jamila Salimpour, Christine Gault. I have taken workshops with many nationally known teachers, including Eva Cernik, Dalia Carella, Delilah, Hadia, Aziza, Paulette Rees-Denis, Saqra, and others.

Over the years I have been a troupe member, troupe director, soloist, musician, band director, workshop sponsor, monthly showcase sponsor, dance workshop instructor, drum teacher and eternal student and fan of the dance. I was a founding member and served on the board of directors of our local Middle Eastern Dance Guild.

Recently I have become interested in Egyptian style dance and I have also just bought a hurdy gurdy.

I love to perform. I love to dance and I love to play music for other dancers. Just not both in the same show!

My Favorite Dancers

I really love watching our local dancers. I also find inspiration from many dancers. I am fascinated with the Egyptian greats like Suhair Zaki and Mona Said.

My Favorite Costumes

My "Volcano" Sim is my favorite costume.

My Dance/Music Style

AmericanCabaret style belly dance, with influences of Egyptian and Turkish styles. I am eclectic, sometimes performing to Egyptian classics, sometimes dancing with props such as candle tray or goblets.

My Favorite Music

Too many to name, but I prefer real, natural music that isn't overproduced.

My Inspirations

Nature and Spirit. Taize healing services and Mystical Chanting services, which I attend with my husband. Nature. Music. People who speak from their hearts without pretense. My kids. People who make me laugh.
