About Me

I began ME dancing at age 47 with no dance background. I began teaching a year later just to keep the MED community alive after my first teacher moved away from the small town in which we live (32K). I now consider myself the Bellyvangelist of Southern New Mexico! I teach 5 classes a week at my studio when not attending to the job that allows me to buy bugle beads (real estate). I am the director of the Silver Dunes MED troupe and we now number 10. We dance all styles - when not arguing over which style ;-}

My Dance/Music Style

All over the board. I love history, dance, textiles and creating my own costumes, so discovering MED caused a wallet threatening collision of many passions. I decided early I wanted a costume for each of the major MED styles, but things may have gotton just a bit out of hand.

My Favorite Music

I have not listened to popular music since I began dancing 8years ago. Total immersion! My tastes run from Corvus Corax to Niyaz to the Ciaro Orchestra. I even like the sound of the mizmar (that took 2 years!)

My Inspirations

Amaya, Dalia Carella, Hadia, Margo Abdo O'Dell, Cassandra, and the immortal Nagwa.
