There are a few sahars with spelling errors, one is saahar, and shahar, so they won't all come up.
I was *forced* to go through the costumes and look at all of them -oh what a hardship!..l;, ..l;,
07-28-2007 12:18 PM #3I just bought this Hanan
http://bellydancestore.biz/images/i1262.jpg
I know Sharazad measures her costumes a little big then they actually are,
(past experiences) so this one should fit me perfect.
I
Hanan!
Now I need someone to buy my three things on the swap board!

yowzaa! that's fabulous! there's a lot of fab stuff on there.
if you tried to describe this it would sound awful, but on someone with the right skin color, this would be beautiful:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...&no=63&catId=1
yummy:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...no=151&catId=1
and this:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...&no=15&catId=1
this would be gorgeous:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...7&no=1&catId=1
if you took off the scarves across the belly. they ruin the sleek lines and are pointless other than to say "I'm unconventional". i'd rather it stuck with I'm Gorgeous.
i just wish the pix n this site were better.
i mean, can anyone tell me what is going on here:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...&no=42&catId=1
the site is replete with gorgeous cozzies on serious contenders in the Bad Poses By Non-Dancers Competition:
Winner in the Pretty Girl Making Herself Look Fat, Awkward, and Silly Category:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...no=100&catId=1
Winner, Erm, These Are Belly Dance Costumes We're Selling Category:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...no=150&catId=1
Runner Up:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...&no=75&catId=1
Runner Up:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...no=123&catId=1
i'd pay to NOT wear this:
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...&no=12&catId=1
maybe it's just the poses, but it looks just a bit too...erm, trashy for me. i know Sahar's all about bold new designs, but that bra is just wrong.Last edited by carolynn; 07-28-2007 at 10:51 PM.

Too funny, Carolynn.
When I saw this one, I thought "Why is this costume wearing a blindfold? And why are its accessories strung up by thier thumbs?"
http://bellydancestore.biz/gallery.p...Id=1275&no=13&
But the costumes really ARE gorgeous, and the prices are great!

Maria - the new Sahar style bras are just amazing on!!! I did not think I would like them at all, but I visited Shahrzad's today and fell in love with one of them!

this is beautiful (i love this cozzie!)
but this:

since i don't want to be too offensive, i'll just say it's "trying too hard."

07-30-2007 09:12 AM #14Some of the SAhars are beautiful, but I really detest those bras with the string inbetween or the bras that look like two globes just hanging about on your chest.
I read the other thread and saw the one you liked, and it is beautiful, and you will look GORGEOUS in it, however, for the price, I am not sure I would pay that.
I just don't want to see a trend that the other designer go, okay, Sahar gets 1200 for simple costuming with crazy bras, so now we're going to do it.Last edited by *maria*; 07-30-2007 at 09:12 AM. Reason: for clarity, no coffee yet this morning!

I would love to see a well endowed dancer in one of those, WELL before I spend my money.

THAT is what I mean by "what's the deal with the bras!"
If your boobs are real, (such as mine) what kind of support is that gonna give!
I shudder to think what mine would be like in that.

hah!
Well, they could be inspired by the Marilyn Monroe / Pin-up motif - particularly Marilyn's white dress blowing up around her thighs picture. That halter top had that similar kind of cut to the waistband, right?
I see a lot of reinvented/adopted pin-up design use in Sahar's work - I posted a picture of Anita Eckberg on a thread and if you go to the fan site for her and look through the images of these 50s/60s pin up stars - you see the Eman and Sahar bra cut inspiration, IMO.

Oh, the irony. I could probably get away with one if those invisible string bras, because I'm so tiny in the chest (barely an A cup) - but I would never wear one.

I totally see your point! I would have been fine if I had not tried it on because I did not think it would be a flattering fit. But, I have to say, I am a small B and I look pretty stacked in it! Plus, there is only a little bit of cleavage in the bra that I got. I did try on one of the others, but I think I would be hesitant if I were really well endowed. They seem to be perfect for making small girls look bigger!!!

I like the Sahars that have real bras, even the ones with the deep vertical plunge in the cleavage. But I dislike the one with clear/string straps. The bras look like floating boob pockets - I don't think that's flattering.

The taXim "malfunction" was due to the bra hook becoming detached from the material, not the bra shape itself. It was very unnerving indeed, and I would not want a repeat. That is why I stated if one fit right. Funny, though, a friend of mine who was there that night said it was very noticeable, and another said they had no idea. I knew early on while I was dancing something was going wrong. I stopped the drum solo early as I did not feel comfortable continuing to dance.

I am sure it depended on your vantage point as to the noticeability factor - I was sitting in a place where I got a full view and was quite uncomfortable for you as I could see everything. It was very strange becaue part of me wanted to stand up and go tap you on the shoulder and say, "er, 'scuse me but you should probably stop dancing now because you are exposed," and the other part was just glued to my seat wondering why the band or the MC weren't gracious enough to give you a way out.
Personally, I think people should pay more attention at these things and help dancers who are in trouble. Also, dancers should probably have a person in the audience they can trust who can "flag" them if something is not right.

Dani,
That's ok, I did not really need a tap, cause I knew something was awry. I tried to move as little as possible. By the time the drum solo came around, I knew I had to pull the plug.

Ok, watched the video again, and although it is a tough call, I did not notice the whole bag of goods exposed. But very close, and not easy to tell.
To satisfy the now curious or voyeuristic, here is a link the video of the performance in its neon pink glory:

Jody,
I was sitting very close to the stage and saw everything. nothing left to imagine. I am pretty sure the band had the same vantage point I did. It's amazing it didn't show on video but you're lucky with that!
The moral of the story, not to make you feel bad, is that I think if any of us feels like our top has come undone - it's probably best to exit the stage not stay there minimizing movement hoping it's not too bad. Aside from being embarrassing, it can make the audience uncomfortable.

I wish Sahar would only charge me $750-$1200 for mine! Regarding the comments that some people made about her bras, I am a 34 D and they are very supportive, stiff, durable and comfortable and cover my boobs. In fact, my Pharaonics, Emans and Hallah Moustafas show more cleavage than the Sahars!
