Thread: Need costume color suggestions

I am getting a new Bella for Christmas and am trying to decide on colors. Does anyone have any interesting color combinations to accent either a kelly green, a purple, or a black costume? I already have a black bella with fuschia pink accents but hubby said I look good in darker colors so maybe black with a different accent color. It's so hard to choose!!

What about a really dark purple or dark royal blue, or dark teal? What colors do you wear in your every day life that make you feel great? What do you wear when you're going out for a night on the town?

I wear a lot of black in my non dance life. I thought teal would be good also but I have a dark navy and turquoise costume that looks very tealish already. I don't have purple or royal blue. Both of those might be good suggestions but what color to use as an accent? I don't really want silver or gold as the accent.

What about copper? Or if you want a color, green, yellow or orange look spectacularly smashing with purple. Complimentary colors and all that...

If it was me, and I was going with purple, I'd go with lime and copper accents. Very different, kind of exciting!

I like the idea of purple and lime green.
Also, what about purple and a lighter shade of purple, like lavender, or something in between?

I think black with green (kellygreen/lime) accents is beautiful. I got one like this but had to sell it, because the skirt was to short :((((

I got black with turquoise/red and royal blue with red accents. Love 'em both.

What about Royal Blue with Pink accents? or Royal Blue with Lime Green accents? I have a royal blue costume with lime green accents and I love it! (it's not a Bella though) Both of these color combos are pretty and fun.

That is gorgeous, but I really fell in love with the bordeaux one on your site. Wish I saw that when it was up for sale. *sigh* so many Bella's so little money......

I'm not an expert on Bellas, but I always thought the dark green/ iridescent purple/ silver combination is lovely- like the French Quarter costume on Dahlal.

I literally woke up this morning and thought "Star needs a green and blue costume!" Either green w/blue accents or the other way around. Either would be beautiful on you!

Sometimes it helps to see a certain color combo together. Like I said in my above post, I have a royal blue and lime green cossie, but it's not a Bella. But here's a pic for color reference.

Purple and gold has a sort of royal feel to it.

I've been thinking about making a chocolate costume with raspberry and gold accents or eggplant costume with light and dark amethyst and gold. Trying to be a little different.

anyway, I thought of another color combination suggestion for you: brown & turquoise! that's so pretty and fashionable.

Make sure you specify to Bella what shade of a particular color you're going for. I've neglected to do that in the past, which is how I ended up with a teal Bella, not green as I had asked for. The teal is awesome, though, and it remains one of my favorite costumes! Just make sure you say "deep" or "dark" with whatever color you are requesting.

Ooo, Ooo, how about a copper costume with turquoise accents? I've seen a Sim/Legend style costume like that and it was just gorgeous!

i think brown and pink would be stunning.. i sold one about a month ago, not a bella but the combo was stunning! chocolate and baby pink
i like the blue and lime green idea as well... even navy and lime green if you want to go dark with an accent that pops!

Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone. I have narrowed it down to these choices:
Electric Blue metallic with green
Dark Green with lime
copper and turquoise
plum with varying shades of purple and raspberry

I know it is still a lot to choose from but at least it's sort of narrowed....LOL!

Do you like lime green? Because it is dynamic with purple or royal blue and doesn't read either silver or gold so you have some flexibility. If you like wearing lime in "real life" it's a great costume color esp. as an accent or secondary color. I'm ordering a Pharonix "Enchantment" bra/belt set from Dahlal that is kelly green as the main color, lime green as the secondary color and since I had to choose either silver or gold accents, I chose gold because the rhinestones are aurora. So my kelly green/lime green cossie will have a lot of flash. Although I look good in all greens (dark auburn hair makes a good constrast to any green) I am so pale that an all over kelly green is just too much.
If lime green isn't your thing, I'd next go for purple/hot pink or royal blue and fuschia.
How about purple and red? I wouldn't do royal blue and red or you could wind up looking sort of American flag.
Warning: check your colors under night or stage lights; pastel colors that look vibrant during day may turn dingey grey or taupe - such as very pale blue or peach - just check it out. I once spent a small fortune on Britex sari fabric in a gorgeous pale powder blue with all these heavy silver and gold embroidery - and on stage it turned drab grey. Some reds turn orange on stage, forest green turns black.
