I've been looking at lots and lots of different bra/belt sets and I'm thinking it's time I get a Great Loop since they're just gorgeous and it seems like one of those great "basic" costumes to have.
There are so many colors out there though and I'm hesitant to order one and then find out that the color doesn't work well on me. I know many of you lovely ladies have this bedlah and I'd love to see photos so I can see how each color works on different complexions. I have brown hair/eyes and can range from quite pale to pretty tan depending on how much sun I get.
Thanks so much!!! ..g.:

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
Yes, pictures please! I've only seen it in gold, bronze and I think burgundy. I'd love to see what it looks like in other colors.

Here is a picture of my burgundy great loop. (FYI: I am looking to trade this for a deep teal bedlah of equal size and value):

Why didn't that embed my picture? I clicked the insert image icon and pasted the url of my bhuz gallery photo in it.

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
Grrrr! ,m:: Why can't the front of the Great Loops be a little taller!?!?!? I love love love anything with looping fringe and have wanted a GL for ages. But my long torso and post-3-kids lower belly would not a pretty Great Loop make!

Sedonia, I thought I'd give embedding your pic a shot so it would show in the thread. It seems to be working, but I'm not sure what exactly I did differently.

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
There are photos of my teal Great Loop in my gallery. I'm quite pale, so I go for bright colors. I also have a long torso and not a flat lower belly - you might be surprised, Whisper. I've had several people ask me if I've lost weight when I wear my Great Loop. I don't think it dips (much) lower than other belts, the design of the front just makes it look that way because it rises up slightly on each side of the dip.

Oooh! I saw the mango -- its a deep golden color, richer than a typical yellow. I think it would be flattering to a wide variety of skin tones, moreso than a typical yellow which some of us paler girls just can't pull off. I was tempted, but saving my $ at the moment.

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
Ssipes ~ I think that color is lovely! I asked my husband about it though and he likened it too much to the FSU garnet and being UMiami Alums, he thinks it won't work. Silly boy.
Mellilah's is really pretty too.. I actually just bought a costume with that shade of purple.
Suzana ~ Do you have a photo of the mango? I don't think it would work with my skin tone, but I'd love to see it anyway. It just sounds cool.
I ran across a great loop on Michelle Joyce's site because she had sold one a while back in blue iris, which looks like a navy, and I like that one. I'm curious to see what a black iris looks like too though.
Thanks so much for all the leads everyone! Please keep them coming! :)

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
while on the subject -
I adore my gold gl so much - it's pretty, it's flattering, it's so darned flexible and functional! I wear it A LOT. so much that I wish I had another bra and belt set with the same qualities so I could give my gl a break (and so I don't start getting recognized as 'that dancer who always wears the gold great loop.' does anybody have any suggestions for another costume? or should I just do the sensible thing and buy a gl in another color?

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
Where do you buy these great loops from? Is there a website out there? I love the gold with a little bit of silver on it. That would be really versatile.

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
I bought my gold one used from another dancer here on Bhuz. I ordered my black one from Dahlal Internationale : Welcome! The Great Loop is a Pharonics.

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
I would advise against copper - just in case you were considering it. I have one, and it's beautiful, but incredibly hard to match with anything. You would think it matches a certain tone (I wanted to make a skirt in similar color) and when I put it next to the fabric, it was either too yellowish or orangy, it just never matches. I finally made a skirt out of a dress that has chocolate / copper color leopard print, and although it looks pretty, it still doesn't match the way I would want. It's not quite like gold that matches just about everything.

I'm getting a black iris, gold, and silver GL. Can't wait. Seems like ages since I ordered them, but good things come to those who wait.

Post pics of the black iris when you get it Azeeza! I'd love to see it!
Marianna ~ Thanks for the tip on the copper
Aziza ~ Love the bright red one... it's so pretty!
Mahira ~ You look gorgeous in both but the gold looks FANTASTIC with your hair! It looks super-versatile too...

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
Thank you! You're so sweet. :Aembarassed: (blushing) the gold one is very versatile. The black one is too. I was thinking about a black iris one when I was ordering my black one but black iris doesn't quite go well with my skin tone. Good luck picking a color for the great loop. I promise, you can't stop at one.

I want one in EVERY color! ;)
Seriously though, I got a decent Christmas bonus from work, so I want to order a Gold One. BUT...I'm in the process of losing weight. How easy are these to alter?

Re: ISO Great Loop Colors
The belt is in two peices so it can be adjusted fairly easily. You can usually bring it in a few inches without it looking funny. I lost weight since I got my black one and I still have to bring it in an inch or two. It is so much easier to do since it's two pcs. I sew one side together and put the hooks on the other side where I need them so it's always centered. I wish all my bedlah belts were two pcs.
