Ok, I personally don't like this costume and I think it must sound awful when you shimmy probably something like a slinky noise.

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
Do you mean the Cirque de Chaux, the lime green one with the huge paillettes and the skirt made out of rings? ..l;,
I actually like it, but I like a touch of weirdness in belly dance costumes now and then. But I would never pay $574 for something like that. I appreciate the creativity though.

It reminds me of those long beaded 'curtains' people hang in their doorways...

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
It's a capiz shell hanging lamp from the 70's come to life! I must admitt...I do like it better than the one that looked as thought your left breast had been shot in mid flight and several gun blasted feathers had fallen and become attached to your hip. You know the one....

Oh, it's not that bad. I've seen worse. Just my opinion.

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
it's has a very seashore feel to me....like a mermaid wrapped in seaweed. i couldn't pull that costume off...it wouldn't look good on my body type. it could add bulk to a smaller dancer who wanted to look larger????

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
See, and for all the reasons mentioned above, I think it's cheese-tastic! Much like the beanie baby costume.

The circles of fabric go all the way to the floor. My big toe would slip right in there and pull the whole affair..shorts and all ...right below my knees...ta dah...

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
That was my first thought! ..l;, That said, though, I think a dancer with the right personality and body type could totally pull it off. The thing I find about paillettes is that while they can look a bit cheap/tacky up close, they look fabulous under lights and just a bit further away.
I love the color!

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
I think I like it too - but looks to be super impractical. I imagine I'd be hooking everything I dance past to end up with a slew of adornments that weren't there when I came out in it...

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
I like it, I think it'd be perfect for the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Though I can't seriously picture myself wearing it at any other venue.

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
It reminds me of Suhair Zaki's blue dress with the giant paillettes hanging from the bottom--for that reason alone I like it, though that color would make me look like death warmed over. I see the Sigmund and the Sea Monsters resemblance, but that makes me like it even more :-)

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
Definitely not worth $574, but I think it's better than some of Dina's outfits.

Re: Eeeeek! Ugly Costume
have you seen THtex dance? I have every confidence in her....
I want to see a youtube of her in this costume, and whatever music she decides is appropriate!
I'm also intensely curious abut what veil she'll use for this :-)- A deeply desired goal gives context to present experience... M. Stanton Jones
