It's the bismuth stuff that can give that greasy look on some of us. That's what I didn't like, either. I've settled with Abbey St. Clair for foundation. It doesn't contain the bismuth, covers better than Larenim and (last time I checked) ounce for ounce, works out cheaper than Aromaleigh. The finishing powders help, but if you're super demanding like me and expect it to last all day with little to no touch-ups, the oils in the skin will break through the finishing powders after an hour or two.
I go through a whole routine in the mornings that takes longer than I'd like, but the result is I don't worry much about touch-ups for the rest of the day. I won't go through it all, but part of it includes putting on a layer of oil blotting powder (both Aromaleigh and Abbey St. Clair sell them) before the foundation. When I want the make-up to last through into the evening, I will use a regular primer, but prefer not to since it defeats the object of using the more natural minerals if the primer includes stuff like talc.
If anyone's got recommendations of primers that are as natural ingredients-wise as the mineral make-ups, please share!

Re: Ulta brand Minerals kit?
Have you tried Aromaleigh's primer? I use that with much success, and it feels a little "lighter" than Smashbox, which is my other fave. But may not be "natural" enough for you.
For my part, I don't use mineral makeups because they are so natural ingredients (though it is a bonus). I would use any foundation so long as it was safe for my skin and looked great. Mineral makeup just happens to fulfill my needs for the look I want. :) But I understand many people come to it for its "naturalness". Though I suppose if someone was really into au naturale, why wear makeup at all?

As Princess Farhana once adviced students at a workshop re. stage makeup: If you don't look like you came from the state institution, you're not wearing enough!

Re: Ulta brand Minerals kit?
..l;, I love it! I totally wear 4x the amount of makeup when I perform. You kind of have to...I always look a little scary in the light though. The nightclubs are dark so I guess who cares what I'd look like in daylight?
I don't wear the mineral makeup during performances; my face gets really red so I need a heavy duty cake makeup to keep people from seeing that.

Re: Ulta brand Minerals kit?
I wear cream make-up for stage performances, but our regular gig is in a dimly lit restaurant, and is right close up at all times, so too heavy make-up would look baad. So I can use my regular MMU then!

Re: Ulta brand Minerals kit?
if you only knew how much red I'd have to cover!!! Really the only thing that'll cover it is my stage makeup.

Honestly, it works. It will make it less difficult to cover with your stage makeup.
As for milk of magnesia, apply to moisturized skin, a very thin layer and spread quickly with a sponge on your oiler areas or where perspiration accumulates, no need to do around the eyes or mouth.

Re: Ulta brand Minerals kit?
I saw the other thread, but since it's being discussed here...
Does the Milk of Magnesia constrict the blood vessels in the face and thus keep down redness?
Does it make your skin feel tighter?

Re: Ulta brand Minerals kit?
Okay, so I HAD to try Everyday Minerals after this discussion. I've been trying to find a very light, fast-to-apply foundation for a while. I got a sample kit. I like the texture of the stuff very much, though I keep spilling it on the counter! Unfortunately I ordered a shade too light, though, so I'm going to order more samples to try to get the right one.

Re: Ulta brand Minerals kit?
Me, too!!!
I ordered the 6 container sample pack. I'm always blending my foundation 'coz my skin is such a hard-to-find-in-one-shade-of-foundation-tone so I got 3 shades of foundation to mix.
I'm looking forward to getting mah kit! Thanks for the tips, everyone. :0)
