    who looks better without makeup?>

am on the search again for a foundation that does not dry up and settle into all the eye wrinkles..any suggestions?

I recently bought the MAC stick..love the coverage but it leaves a matte powdery finish and within an hour it settles into the eye wrinkles and looks horrid.

is there something that won't leave a wet look (shiny look) and won't settle in like that?

I dont normally wear much makeup maybe just lipgloss so this would just be needed for going out at night or cough cough dancing if that ever happens again

I never wear foundation when I dance nowadays, unless it is a super special occasion. I've used that fluffy one, revlon mousse (comes in a pot) with a dab of powder over the top. Seems to do the trick.

I have just tried the Rimmel foundation. So far I think I like it. It's the cream form and it dries on nicely and it stays too. The color matches my skin tone nicely.

I've yet to find anything .... cream, powder, minerals ..... that doesn't eventually settle into lines. The trick, I think, is to use a minimal amount. What works best for me is to dust the very lightest amount of mineral base powder all over, then go heavier with concealer (also mineral powder) in specific areas where I need good coverage. The only reason for the initial layer is that it helps the concealer stick better and longer.

I just love my beauty flash balm from Clarins. I work on the premise that as you get older, you have to go more subtle or you start to look like Bette Davies on a bad day!

I'm realizing less is more, as well as less shimmer products is better since it basically directs a big neon sign to my lines that says "lookee here!"

Jesennia, try something silicone-based. It stays on the surface and remains pliable.

THIS is the bomb. I use it on my clients as well as myself.

MAC face and body foundation. it is super light, comes in a huge bottle, doesnt settle into lines and wrinkles. It looks like you arent wearing any foundation at all. It doesnt break me out. Use this with mac blot powder for a more matte finish. It is even pretty waterproof. I love this stuff!

    Samira Mirage,
Do you personally use the MAC product for body as well as face? I was considering getting it for body coverage and wondered about your experience with it as a body makeup ...

what you need is a foundation primer! I like laura mercier's, a lot of people like mac or smashbox. the primer fills the lines so the foundation stays on top. also, the primer creates a surface you can apply your pigments directly to, without needing foundation. so you can just dab foundation where you need it, and your blush and shadow and powder will stick either way.

I use Mary Kay medium coverage foundation. I didn't really discover it, till I went to a Mary Kay party. Works wonders for me.

This JUST IN from my favorite meteorologist on CBC News...

Those in freezing climates should NOT wear water-based foundation during the winter. The water molecules in the product will freeze, causing damage at a cellular level.
Thus, it is advised to wear an oil/creme-based foundation during cold winter months because, like Vaseline which is often smeared on kids' faces before they play in the snow, oil will not freeze and creates an extra moisture barrier.

Many primers contain silicone. If you wish, you can purchase a silicone-based foundation and skip having to apply a 2nd product (separate primer). For photo shoots (self and clients) I definitely use both products for ultimate smoothness; however, for performance and everyday it is probably not that necessary if your skin is in relatively good condition.

I know my foundation/cover stick seems less likely to make wrinkle-y looks if I put moisturizer on first and let it sink in for a few minutes while I get ready. I still have crepe-y eyes, but not so bad.

    Azhia

I have used the MAC face and body foundation on my body. If I have an unexpected tan line or a mini bruise I have used it. This is what they used on the beach bunnies of Bay Watch to give them that over all flawless look. Too much work for me, make sure you let it dry really well before costuming up too.

I LOVE my Mary Kay cream to powder foundation. It has great coverage, not heavy and leaves a nice matte finish! If you want to try it out, let me know, I have a terrific Mary Kay specialist.

I love Vincent Longos products, especially water canvas base, a product you use under your foundation. That used together with water canwas creme to powder foundation gives a wonderfully natural look that holds forever. They are pricey, but worth it.

i like light and targeted application of mineral powder, lately... but have also had pretty good luck using mary kay facial highlighting pen as an under-eye concealer. it's very lightweight and didn't settle into the crepiness/lines nearly as much as a concealer or a liquid foundation.

I recommend applying an eye cream, putting a makeup base before any foundation. It usually gives a velvety smoothness. I've tried Laura Mercier primer and MAC ones. MAC is pretty good., it has one with SPF and another without. Go less on eye concealor too as it tends to looks cakey after a while.

I usually apply some makeup for all performances but I try to minimize my foundation these days. Always stick to liquid and now spray on ones.

Neutrogena makes a liquid foundation that is very light, a bit dewy, and super natural looking. It never settles into my crevices. I think the line is called Visibly Even and you can buy it at drugstores. Give it a whirl...if you don't like it, you can return it! I've used it for years and haven't found anything better.

For dry skin loreal is a good skin cream to use.
this is less for Rita38 but for soon-to-be performers who may be lurking looking for the same info.(we knoooow you're out there, i lurk all the time ..l;, ..l;, ..g.: ..g.:

EVERY dancer is a pretty woman, but everyone also has flaws..........if you are serious about performing you WILL wear make-up.............if not, just WAIT till you see what stage lights do to an un-made up face..c:: . eyes disappear, shiny complexion, lips blend to rest of face, pretty much the incredibly faceless dancer in most cases..........

even in venues where lights are dim, and heaven forfend that bad pms day when you look like you're growing another face..........make-up is our frieeeend...........

for my own info, i saw primers mentioned.............do they work with mineral make-up as well as liquid foundation? i love mine, but wouldn't mind boosting it JUST a tad to avoid using as much........i have combination, but sensitive skin

    Ditto for photographs...

Primers work great with mineral makeup. I find that they glide on easier and do not clump and splotch where there is more oil. I do find that you need less product when the skin is primed. :0) I rarely go "primerless" since I started priming.

No matter how gorgeous someone is, it always ups the "glam factor" for me when she's wearing a bit of visible makeup. It completes the glamorous aesthetic for me when I see a dancer has put some work into making her features stand out and adding color to her face.

VERY much appreciated, i've debated investing in it, as i'm afraid of screwing up the fix i found by using minerals, i.e. no pore clogging, n other stuff

which are the best to use with minerals do you think?

    I love Clinique's Superbalanced foundation.
Tips from makeup artists: don't use powder on your wrinkles, even mineral powder, it's too dry and definitely settles in.
Bust out the matte eyeshadow(as a base); shiny/sparkly stuff highlights wrinkles.
And there was a thread a while back about moisturizers; I just found a GREAT eye/face cream with glycolic acid and retinol in it(best ingredients for kicking wrinkles' ass!); it's called ROC, Anti-Wrinkle moisturizing treatment(night).
    Works really good.

Melania, do you know what other ingredients are in it? I'm curious. I'm always on the prowl for wrinkle-ass kicking products (you know, in anticipation of them!) but it's challenging finding vegan ones.

As far as primers, I think further up this thread is a link for DHC Velvet Skin Coat. I prefer that over any other primer I've tested for myself and clients. It works great for camera, video, and performance (in addition to Milk of Magnesia if you sweat a lot!).

I'm curious about ROC too, Melania. They don't seem to carry it at Sephora...where'd you buy?
