Phase 1....
It is going to take awhile, but this time I decided to try making all appliqués and put them onto the covered bra/belt instead of doing all the beading directly on the costume. I can see the positives and negatives of this....but I am giving this direction a shot. The appliques seem to be going easier! It is much easier to bead on one layer of material & some interfacing than it is to do through the thick belt base.
The bra/belt material and skirt will be green and the major accent color is silver, however I am tying in a little bit of blue!
Any comments are welcome.
I think I'm also going to try to attach the bra straps after I'm done with everything too. In the past I have always put the straps on before I covered the bra...but it seems this way might be easier!
I was also thinking about temporarily covering the bra (with a basting stitch) then removing the bra material to do all of the beading before I put it on the bra permanently. Has anyone ever done this before?
Again, I'm dreading the oh so simple circle skirt making! bleck!

Re: my new costume project
Your box of tricks in the background is what caught my eye - I wish I was as neat and organised!!!! My poor family stumble over and get stabbed by my stuff for weeks while I am sewing. They have to make space at the dining table to eat. They would love you..... I love the colour of your costume, and your applique idea sounds great! Not sure about adding the straps after. I have tried it but couldn't really get them very sturdily attached. Probably due to me beading where I need to stitch the straps. Duh!!!
