Okay, now think a second -- what bellydance track do you have the most versions of, and how many?

I thought "Zeina" would win in my iTunes, but in fact I have SIX "Aziza"'s! (spelled four different ways, in fact!)

Same for me - I have 5 Aziza's!

I also have 5 Aziza's, but the winner is...

I have a bunch of Gana al Hawa versions and I, too, hate all of them! I'll have to go make a more formal count later when I can check out my music.

Off the top of my head I would say Neptidi M'neim el Hikaya. I know I have at least 7 versions on CD, not counting old cassettes.

It's a tie between Alf Layla and Gana el hawa. I don't know why Alf Layla, I don't even care for it that much anymore. It's SOOOOOOOOOOOO overplayed.

Oh yeah, tons of versions of Alf layla. It is a beautiful song but it is overplayed. So many other beautiful Oum Khoulsoum songs.

So, for those of you who have several versions of Azizza, I'm looking for a Greek version, any suggestions?

Greek Aziza - Feenjon Group. Very lovely version, but rather fast.

Aziza and Batwannes beek and I'm not keen on any of them-I'm always on the lookout for the perfect Aziza most of them really drag it out.

And of course, I know that according to "the rules," a good belly dancer has to wrinkle her nose and declare that song overplayed. But hey, I love the tune - and I am lucky to live in an area where it's original to dance to it! %^) (Dancing to modern Western stuff would be the non-orginal choice here.)

Steffi, the trick is having such a ridiculous number of versions that you can dance to one that ISN'T overplayed. Oh, snap...you win!

Hmmm...a completely unscientific survey (I also have several unlabeled tracks and not a good way to search by number of songs by the same title...esp. when transliterated different ways....)

I'm a bit of Abdel Halim Hafez freak:
Kariet el Fingan is my favorite song...I've been able to identify at least 8 versions of that (including one short weird poppy one and the hour long original), but I suspect there may be another lurking in the unlabeled tracks.

I also have at least 6 or 7 Gana El Hawas
About 4 or 5 Zey El Hawas.

I desperately need a good dancable Sawah, though!!!!

Another one of which I have many--Habibi Ya Ein/Balady Ya Waad. I have at least 5 different versions appearing on at least 8 different CDs!
