Thread: ISO good version of set el hosn

Hi I am searching for a good version of set el hosn that I can practice to because at a competition I a m going to, the band usually plays this, along with other "top 10" songs, mainly Halim and O.K. (Omm) but I have no mp3 of this one, only sound taken from DVDs which is poor quality live performance. Sharing a song with me via email would be very nice from you as I do not have time to order cd-s from amazon or other vendors - and I am European so I might not know the vendors U now. and my competition is in a cuople of weeks. thanx!

Suhaila has an awesome version of Sel El Hosen on her "Arabian Musical Vol 3" it's 10:37 min long

Also, the CD "Dunia El Raks" has a version that's 7:36 min long. Not sure who sells this one, maybe someone can help.

This is off--topic from Setana's question a bit, but is there such a thing as a version of Set El Hosen that is NOT synthesized? As in played by a medium sized ensemble of violins, oud, ney, tabla, etc? Or is its "essence" to be the quintessential melodramatic 1970's disco-era belly dance music?

Suhaila's version is all instrumental.

The full length 15 minute version isn't sythnesized. It's part of an entire routine that is track 1 called Raksat Samara on Belly Dance with Samara by VOS. The other versions mentioned are shorter versions of the original.

There is a version on "Hamouda Ali, Princess of Cairo" that is nice. It is about 6 minutes long.

Well no, I just bought this and in fact, the main melody instrument for set el hosen and the whole CD is electric keyboard. The drums and guitar are nice, and there is a tiny smidgen of real violin, but its mostly keyboard.

I'm somewhat disappointed, I guess, although it IS the best version I have, certainly better than the 1970's Nagua Fouad version.

Would someone mind listening to this and tell me exactly what the main melody instrument(s) is/are, if not keyboard, for the set el hosen in Raksat Samara? The universe is conspiring against me, and I can't find any online clips from this CD. Dahlal has hyperlinks for clips, but I get a not found error message.

I really don't want to plunk down another $20+ bucks for yet another version that turns out to be a keyboard on the faux "violin" setting.

I like the one on Isis' compilation. I can't remember what the cd name is, but I think you can do a search on "Isis".

You would have to have editing software to use this version. It is a 27:08 routine entitled Raksat Samara. The opening number is Sel el hosen. It's a full orchestra version. I hear mostly nay, drum, lots of kanoon.

yes, I have this one and it is very orchestral-sounding. It really sounds full and orchestral, and the tempo isn't jacked up to bunny-speed either.

update: I tried uploading the Samara version to bhuz, but am not sure if it worked. The upload appeared to be successfully completed, but when I click to the music tab, the song is not showing.

I think you are talking about the "Wings of Isis" cd. The version on that cd is by Setrak.

I think maybe Sit El Hassan is too long to upload?
The Samara CD also has a lot of taxims, beledi etc. I upload a sample it's called Ahwa Ya Meallima.
