    L'histoire lyrics?

    Hi all,

I'm having trouble finding the lyrics to L'histoire by Cheb Tarik; some of my students would like to dance to this song at the hafla this weekend. Please help out if you can! Thanks.

I couldn't find the lyrics either, I also searched in French.

Generally, I would be careful with Raï songs, they are often political.

Yeah, that's what I'm confused about; the English lyrics I've been able to make out seem to be about world peace, but I'm not entirely sure.

    Re: L'histoire lyrics?

Most of the Algerian rai songs are about how the Algerians suffer from a variety of complaints, yet when they listen to or sing these songs the people are dancing and having a good time. My first introduction to Algerian lyrics (oh, so very, very different than the general Egyptian songs) was seeing a group of Algerian men and women dancing and smiling to a live performance by Cheb Nasro. The translation to the song was about how awful life was and how the singer wanted to kill himself. After 11 years of listening to and enaging with Algerians in the US and in Algeria, I give up trying to make reason with the lyrics and behavior. Just dance to any Rai song and enjoy the beat!!
