ID New Age-y Song?
One of my students is trying to get an ID on this song so she can buy a CD or download legally. The song is labeled as "Anathema", but I have no idea if that's the name or the artist, and it's been hard to Google because there's a gothic band with the same name all over the 'net.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry I can't help in naming the song but it's a great song. I wish you luck in finding it.

Re: ID New Age-y Song?
I can tell you that it is NOT the name of the band. Anathema is a death metal band out of Liverpool.

Re: ID New Age-y Song?
Man, a long time ago, I saw a clip with a New York (?) based band of traditional musicians who played a fusiony piece that reminds me of this tune. And, I'll be darned, I can't recall the names. It was a young, fairly pleasant-on-the-eyes guy on clarinet (THAT part I am sure of). As I recall, they performed with well-known veteran dancer, maybe Amira Mor or Neon or somebody of the same DVD-producing caliber.
Anybody know what band I am talking about?

And, while unlikely, it may be useful to check into Souren Baronian's recordings - the jazz recordings, not his more traditional work.

Was it Raqy and the Cavemen? Because I actually thought of them when I heard the clip for the first time.

No, I don't believe it's Raquy. And, anyways, I don't think she works with a musician who plays clarinet (I suspect what's on that recording is a G-clarinet, a very beautiful instrument).

Me again ;-)
You could also post on the Middle Eastern Music tribe on tribe.net - one of the musicians there may recognize the tune, or perhaps identify one of the musicians. I don't have the ear for it, but I bet that my friend Melissa (the Clarinetchick) will be able to name the clarinetist after a few bars.

Where did she hear the song? Sometimes when I can't find the song or artist itself I'll look for other things that had to do with the song (like a commercial, or something).

It was on a CD that was burned for her by another person. She's trying to track down the particulars so she can purchase a legitimate version.

I think that might be a Jehan song?

Gorgeous. It reminds me of some of the music on the Sensual Goddess Cd by DJ Mosavo.
