Re: latino beats?
Check out some of the stuff on the baila habibi CDs off e-music... not all of it is in arabic, but it's useable for dance. I have a song called el ayyam that I'm really into at the moment that I think came off one of those CDs.

Re: latino beats?
Hakim's Ya Albi isn't exactly perfect but he sings in Arabic, French and Spanish with a woman--I forget who.

Try the cd 'a rough guide to latin-arabia', it has some nice songs on it.

Yallah Amigos CD
Yallah Amigos is even better than the Baila Habibi CDs.

Re: latino beats?
Toul Omry from Nawal al Zoughbi has lots of Salsa-influence. They even yell 'Salsa' at the start :)
Am using this song with Hinds choreo for my summer classes, love it!
(skip to 0:50 for the song)

Oh DUDE. You NEED Drumpsyder's stuff. He's my most amazing drummer (REALLY good with the tabla) but mixes in a latin flavor into his works. He's on iTunes. Check him out- Desert Samba and El Gato Loco are great ones. Plus, if you as him REALLY nicely (via email) he MIGHT just send you his latest mix cd of belly dance meets mambo/rhumba/salsa beats. I drill to it, it's so good! He has even more stuff on his MySpace page, I believe.

Re: latino beats?
I second Mekyria´s tips ,that one should keep you busy for a while...
Strange enough(since I have NONE Latin dance training and no latin roots what so ever)I often have gigs for Colombians,Peruvians,Bolivians and Chileans, first I bought the "Rough Guide" and later the "Baila Habibi"-s.
Now I use newer hits but the "Rough Guide" is very good value IMO.
Good luck Artemisia,I think you will have a wonderfully enthusiastic audience!
Much different than belgians(or as for me,swedes)
