Thread: Favorite version of 'Leyla'?

Hi all, I'm looking for some more versions of 'Leyla' by Farid el Attrache.
Anyone know on which CDs they can be found?

You may already have it, but just in case, my favorite is an original recording by El Atrache himself. It's hard to find unless you know where to look. It can be purchased on a cheap collection CD called "Music for an Oriental Dance". There's one other Farid El Atrache recording on the CD, Noura Noura, which is worth having. The rest of it is useless in my opinion, but I was happy to buy it to acquire that recording of Leyla.

Masters of Bellydance Volume 2 (pretty 5 minute version - I'm currently selling this CD)

Ahlan wa Sahlan 2 (very synthesized, but 8 minutes)

Belly Dance for Fortune and Fame (2 minutes, by Morgador band)

Joy of Belly Dancing (another 3 minute version, George Abdo)

My absolute favorite version I got from Zahra, though, and don't know where she got it...

Does anyone know the translation of this song? I know the title means "Night", but what about the rest of the song-what is it about-Love lost? Happiness? Any info would be appreciated. Jamie

My favourite version is on Very Cairo 3 Kings Favourite

Setrak has a version on Make me Dance Vol 20.
