Thread: Original Gwen Stefani's "Rich Girl"

A classmate has the Arabic (?) version of Gwen Stefani's "Rich Girl" and we have no idea what the title of the song is, what year it came out, or who the artist was. Could someone help me out? I'd love to find it--thanks in advance!

okay, so I figured this out a few years ago when I had the same problem

the actual original is more of a reggaeton style song by Lady Saw called "If I were a rich girl"....amazing the iterations of a Fiddler on the Roof song!

The Arabic version is called "Rich Girl"--it's by a singer named Tara--the copy of it I have is on a CD called "Sounds of Arabia," which is a seamless DJ style mix....the song is there in its entirety, but for some reason, the way the tracks are broken up, the last bit of the song is in the following track....you'll have to do some editing, or see if Tara has a CD of her own. I got the CD back in 2004, and it was the only place I could find the song....you may have more luck now, 4 years later

I love the Tara version too and I finally tracked it down after 3 years (originally had it from Sounds of Arabia also!).

Full song can be found on a CD called Supreme Orient 2, which is no longer produced but you can get it from vendors at Amazon.com.

I believe this was actually recorded before the Stefani version (I don't have the notes in front of me so can't check, but I had Sounds of Arabia before Stefani's Rich Girl came out, I'm pretty sure).

yes, tara's version was waaay before ms. stefani's! i was listening to this is 2001! before my i finally choroegraphed a modern khaleegy to it for rakkkasah west 08! talk about an incubation period! good luck! miss willow
