Looking for good "Zay el Hawa" arrangements
I'm looking for the perfect version of the song Zay el Hawa.
Anybody out there got a good one?!

Re: Looking for good "Zay el Hawa" arrangements
The one playing on my computer right now is on the CD called, 'Ya Salaam' the best of....and it is lovely. Beata Cifuentes is on the cover.
Seemingly there is also a version on Ya Salam Ya Jillina (of BDSS fame)
If you go to: Zay Al Hawa you will find details/links of who else has released the song and where to purchase.Last edited by bul_bul_ksa; 11-21-2008 at 02:08 AM.

I have a couple of versions but the one on Ya Salam Ya Jillina is the best for me because it's a very strong and powerful version.

The version on Ya Salaam Ya Jillina and Best of Ya Salaam are the same. It's very good, but it needs to be cut for general use, as it's about 10 minutes long.

Samir Srour has a version with sax. Also Jalil Akel has a beautiful version with violin.

Re: Looking for good "Zay el Hawa" arrangements
I feel like a kid in a candy store. I think I've reached a point in my music collection, where I'm trying to find preferred arrangements of popular songs.
All the time, I come across things that I thought I didn't like, until I heard it played a different way, so I'm going mad looking for new music. Seeing what jewels I could have mistakenly passed over the last 5 1/2 years. LOL

My favorite is the original by Abdel Halim Hafez. I think I put it on my Habibis list, maybe not.

I am reviving this thread from almost a year ago because today I updated my "Zay Al Hawa" page on BellydanceDownloads.com.
BellydanceDownloads.com - Zay Al Hawa
Lately I am especially enjoying the version on the album, "Dalaa Al Nawaem-Bellydance", which I recently found on eMusic.

Re: Looking for good "Zay el Hawa" arrangements
(checks ipod)
Let's see, I've got a Cairo Orchestra version on Arabian Legends, about 7 minutes. Almost too "peppy" for me, though a nice flute solo.
"10 Songs Every Bellydancer Should Know" has one. I like the arrangement but find the cymbal crashes distraction.
When my teacher taught us a choreography to the song, we used just the orchestral intro from a live Abdel Halim Hafez performance. Very pretty, lots of strings.
