Thread: History of Aziza (the song)

Usually when I introduce my students to a famous ME song, I like to give them a little background information. I'm having a terrible time coming up with anything on Aziza, though - my google-fu is weak on the subject. Does anyone have details they can share about the song, like when it was written and by who? Have there ever been any lyrics, or is it strictly an instrumental? These and any other tidbits would be greatly appreciated.

Mohamed Abdel Wahab wrote it, and as far as I know, it was for a movie which I believe starred Naima Akef.

the lyrics were also translated into turkish, and the song is VERY famous and well known in turkey, too . The turkish title is "Azize"

its basically Azize's lover begging her not to leave him.

Go to babelfish.com and they can usually translate most languages. I don't know if they need Cyrillic script or not but it's worth a try.
