    Different version of song

The Brothers of the Baladi have a song called Salla Sana on their Hope album. My instructor played a different version of the same song in class last night and I am now trying to find it. Problem is, I of course don't remember who sang it, the album it was on and the spelling of that version. It was something like Sallasana M(something). The album had the word Masters in it. Something like Masters of bellydance or Bellydance masters or something along those lines. I know if I hear it, I will know it or even if I hear the album or the singers name. For those who like puzzles........help!

    Re: Different version of song

I have versions of Salla Salla Mendilini by Ozel Turkbas, Eddie Kochak and John Bilezikjian.

I suspect you may be looking at the recording "Fallaha Chocolata" by Al-Ahram Orchestra - same tune, different name, probably b/c it is recorded by Egyptian, rather than Turkish/Armenian musicians.

A translation is on Shira's site.

Oh, or was it maybe the Mogador Band on Bellydance for Fame and Fortune? Then there is the Feenjon Group's recording, chances are that's not what you heard, and 3Spell.

Okay, so it is definitly Sallasalla Mendilini. The S and M are right so it isn't the Chocolata one. Why do I do this to myself? Why can't I just write the stupid thing down.

I have of course called and left a message for my teach but haven't heard back yet.

Keep em coming, I will find this!

Ah, I should have added this: sometimes the same song is called different names, which are used interchangably, depending on whom you are talking to. E.g., Rompi = Caderemin Ustune, Shashkin = Ya Ein Mulayetin, Uskudara = Banat Inskandaria, while Fallaha Chocolata is not exactly the same as the Brothers of the Baladi's Salla Salla, it is close.

You could try visiting the translation of that song on my web site at Untitled and listen to the brief MP3 clips to see if the version you're looking for is one of those.

Well, if your instructor just played it last night, why don't you ask her at the next class??????

The Masters of Bellydance Vol. 2 has "Shokolata (4:53) Sami Ali" as track #5. The Masters of Bellydance Music Vol. 2

    Some other "Master" albums:
    The Masters of Bellydance Music

Oh yea, I got what you were saying. I just meant that I saw it written on the CD and that was the title.
