Classic Raq?
Or rock, as the case may be.
I need suggestions. I am dancing at a showcase for a recording studio. there will be four bands playing and in between there will be different artists doing their schtick. I get a 15 min set while the techies are changing over the stage.
The theme for the evening is Classic Rock and I am thinking of doing old school American style belly dance. I jsut need some suggestions on music.
but the good news is that I have finally retreived my favorite sword! ..g.:

Re: Classic Raq?
i would suggest led zepplin for classic rock.
or you could do brother of the baladi's Me version of paint it black.
rolling stones meet the middle east off their album Eye of the World. but its not really that rock sound you might want.
I would go for led zepplin. eyes of ever more? I believe that is the song.

Raquy and the Cavemen have a rock edge to their music.

The Beatle's "Within you, WIthout you"

Re: Classic Raq?
Dick Dale's Misirlou and Led Zeppelin are great suggestions. Kashmir by Led Zeppelin is one of the all-time greatest rock songs and it's very moody and mysterious.
What about "Stop Stop Stop" by The Hollies, it's about a belly dancer, has these lyrics: "stop drop, stop all the dancing, give me time to breath..... stop all the dancing..." Could be fun. "Paint it Black" also has an Eeastern" sound but the lyrics are sad.

hmmm. . .
These are great suggestions, but not quiet what I had in mind. I was thinking George Abdo as Classic belly dance music!
Now I'll have to think about a different approach!
