"ya samra" in set el hosn - help !

    Hi !
Our group is preparing a choregraphy for the long version of set el hosn. It will be danced in bedlah. the problem is that there is a part with the vocals "ya samra" and fellahi rythm and I wonder what we can do...
would you expect a fellahi dance ? then I think we really need the fellahi costume (only for a minute and half !), I don't see this dance in bedlah...
what else could you imagine ?
    thank you for your help.

No, you do not need to worry about the costume in this situation. When a folky section comes in the middle of an oriental rountine piece, the only thing you need to do is acknowledge it in some way, for example throw in one or two folkloric movements into the choreography.

What else could you do? Hit pause, run off stage and change into a folk costume, then come back out and do that section, then (presumably it segues back into Set el Hosn) run off and change again back into bedlah, come back out and finish the dance?

    Ya Samra

Oh Beautiful Dark Skinned (or tan) woman.

Seriously, you should watch Nagwa do this piece and use her as a guide. I believe this music was composed for her to begin with.

and if somebody can post a better clip, go ahead.

Or even better buy the dvd "VARIOUS ARTISTS - ORIENTAL BELLY DANCE DVD" from Rashid. It has that clip of Nagwa in full color and a bunch of other great classic clips of belly dancers.

would it be OK to use sagats on this part ??
or to use some tambourines (little drums, not sure of the translation...) at the beginning of this part ?

You're the artist. I think it's ok to use a little creative license.
