Re: Need Some New Party/Pop Songs
Amr Diab's 'new' ish Album El Lilday has quite a few winners on it.
My teacher has just brought back a new album from Cairo from a singer who sounds like Egypt's answer to Justin Timberlake. Don't know his name yet (might be Mohammed Hammadi or something similar) but although he's not a well-known he's got a lot going for him.
I'll also second princessisabella on the Nancy Ajram recommendation. Nancy seems to be on top form with her latest material.

You're thinking of Mohamed Hamaki (sometimes he just goes by "Hamaki"). His name is actually spelled with a Qaaf in Arabic, but I've only seen it transliterated as a "K."
Mohamed Hamaki isn't exactly "unknown" at home, though. His second album was the best-selling CD of 2006, and the single from it, "Ahla Haga Feekee," won "Best Composer" for the guy who wrote it.

Yasmin (www.serpentine.org) just put out a CD of Dina's singer, Hoda Sinbati, called "Ala Mahlik". I really like it. Beladi music, not pop, but it's upbeat.
I always like Saad. And been listening to Ehab Tawfik lately.

Not new and more party than pop but I like using a few songs off DJ Nader's cd 'Hizzy - Hips in the Mix'
Some of them have crappy endings so for a performance it requires cleaning up.

Re: Need Some New Party/Pop Songs
the album has a really silly title.....but Oriental Fever 9 has some FANTASTIC stuff on it, including one track with some awesome guitar riffs (which my guitar nerd bf loved), some more modern/sounds.....definitely don't sound like the typical compilation songs, and there are a few actually over three minutes long....I got it on Maqam about a year ago maybe, and at least half the songs are in my "to choreograph to" playlist

Re: Need Some New Party/Pop Songs
Thanks for putting me straight. By 'unkown' I kind of meant 'not exactly well know as a singer/performer over here' as opposed to someone like Amr Diab or Nancy who are used by dancers the whole time.
I'm not surprised Mohamed Hamaki's album won a prize. Our whole performance group have been impressed by the range and versatility he demonstrates on the CDs that my teacher brought back. Its pop, but there's a lot of variety there - something for everyone.
