Classical version of "Move your Belly"?
I really enjoy this song but I'd sure like to find a less electronica version--am I crazy to think this is actually an old classic that's merely been "remixed"?

Do you have a link? Off-hand I am thinking it was enta omri, but I'll have to go take a listen - I definitely think it was an Um Kalthum song, I just can't remember what it sounded like

I have it on a CD called Visit me in Baghdad. It's the first track and called Hikayatna (Our Story)

Re: Classical version of "Move your Belly"?
Samira and Mahsati--does the version on Visit Me sound *very* different than the remix version? I love the song but not the electronic-sounding singing.

Taj, It's got the same melodic themes - the arrangement is completely different. This one is all takht (acoustic) instruments.

Re: Classical version of "Move your Belly"?
Thanks, Priscilla--for some reason, though, the clips won't play for me.
I found a song called Babylon Mood on Neena and Veena's Essential Bellydance cd that has the same opening, but it's not nearly as danceable and it's only 1:39 minutes long.
If anybody who has Visit Me in Baghdad has a chance, would you be so kind as to upload the song to Bhuz so I can hear it? If it's the same one I've got, there's not much point in buying the cd.
Thanks for all the help!
ETA: Or give a listen to the song I mentioned--I just uploaded it.Last edited by Taj; 01-08-2009 at 05:27 AM.

It's also on a couple of the Bellylicious CDs. I know for sure it's on No. 3 and possibly No. 1. Also Amaya's Dancer's Odyssey has it too. And Louie has it too. I like it much better than the remix - it is such a taqsim song, one where you can really feel the music get inside of you.

Re: Classical version of "Move your Belly"?
The remix version is at least six albums. It's nice to finally know its origins. There are two versions of the remix - a 3:31 version and a 5:00 live version.
