looking for Saad song about eating dinner...

Dr. Mo used an awesome Saad El Soghayer song this weekend and I can't find it anywhere. Could have sworn the title included "ashrub" - to eat? The lyrics were something like "I would like to invite you to dinner, don't tell me you'll go to bed without dinner" " give me lunch, give me dinner, and give me all the kisses you owe me." And it started with a little bit of a taxim. I looked at Prince of Sha'abi, Dance of my Heart and even some other pages and can't find it in his discography. I'd like to buy and own it as it was adorable.

Hi, Nepenthe! Dr. Mo said the song is "Azmak Alasha" by Saad el Sogeyehir(sp?); I spoke w/DeeDee & she said they ran out of copies of this brand new CD release from the Dr. Mo-Randa-Nagwa workshops the weekend before in Miami. She said to check the Little Egypt website in a couple of weeks when they can get some more copies.

I think the reason you're having trouble finding it is that it appears under multiple names. The song listed as "Azmak Ala al-Asha'" on 6arab.com is listed as "Azmak Elnaharda" on the CD "Koloh Men Khirak." Maybe it depends on which pressing of the album you buy. I bought the High Quality for Art Production/Cairo pressing from Maqam on sale not too long ago. BTW, his name is spelled "Saad el Soghiar" on the CD, so there are some variations on that transliteration also.

    Thanks for the info./clarification, Tourbeau!!!
Not to add to the confusion, but is this the same Saad that is sometimes just referred to by his first name only of "Saad"? Or is there another simply Saad?

It's so sad that I need clarification on Saad! Nyuk-nyuk-nyuk..l;, (OK--really lame joke:))

Hey, Nepenthe. I don't know the song, but the word Ashrub means drink (either 1st person singular or imperative second person) Not eat.

Try Maqam though. You can listen to tracks before you buy.

As far as I know "Saad," "Saad, Prince of Sha'abi," "Saad el Soghiar, the singer," and "Saad al Sogheyar, the actor" are all the same person. I'm sure there are other people in the entertainment industry over there who are named "Saad," but I think the idea of promoting him by only one name started around the same time as he crossed paths with the BDSS. Has anyone ever heard him called only one name over there, or is that a Miles-ism?

I think you're right: When he recorded/contributed "Bellydance" for BDSS vol. 5, right? I think that's when I saw him as simply "Saad". But there's no mistaking his voice :)

You too! I was glad that I was brave enough to talk to some of the people that I was too shy to talk to last time (Salome and yourself).

I ordered the CD today - thanks to everyone on this thread for clarifying the name. And luckily my friend wrote down the whole choreography. I don't usually do other people's choreographies but that one was so much fun that I'll probably practice it to get the concepts into my muscle memory for my own dance.

Re: looking for Saad song about eating dinner...

    Hmm...not it.
The song in the workshop started out with a taxim - Azmak Elnaharda starts out decidedly not as a taxim, more drum-heavy. It may contain the same word but it's a completely different song.

Now I'm never sad to have a new Saad album but...still wish I could find the song from the workshop!

Edited to add - the song on the CD is called Waheshni!

Edited to add - Nope, the words "Azmak Elnaharda" are definitely in the song but it's LABELLED Waheshni on the back of the CD. Now i can't be sure of any of the labels! Several other songs are mislabelled too. - OK - figured it out - it's all off by one. the first song is Rabena Hagebli Haki (labelled as the last song) and just move everything else up by one and you'll have it.

Re: looking for Saad song about eating dinner...

I should have mentioned that the titles don't match the song order on the copy of the album I have. I noticed that the tracks ripped incorrectly off the album, too, so it's not just a problem with the cover listing the songs wrong. The tags import in the order on the back of the CD, but the lyrics clearly indicate that they are mismatched. So is "Azmak Elnaharda" (listed as "Waheshni") the song you wanted or not?

I think it's even wrong in Arabic. I know a few Arabic letters and could see that it was mislabelled. Well, got it sorted out.

Aznak Elnaharda was exactly the song.

I figured I'd post to let everyone know about the mixup because those who were excited about Eskendereya would have been surprised by what the mislabelled one sounded like (the 2 minute song after it sounds much more like an Eskenderaya type song).

Saad seems to be broadening his appeal here - there are three ballads on this album...it's not all fast stuff.
