Thread: Hoda om Ruma?

Does anyone know if this singer has produced any CDs? She was the baladi/shaabi singer for the Farha Tour in Sydney last year and I adored her singing. Very strong and emotive but a lot clearer and purer in tone than, say, Fatme Serhan, who I do like but who also sounds as if she's been through the wringer many times.

There are lots of singing Hodas but none seem to be her! She is not a young woman, I'd guess later 40s or 50ish? (Based on my obs of these Cairo chicks who don't have any lines on their faces at any age!)

Hmm, have you emailed Kay at Farida Dance and asked if she has anything? She often "links in" with these kind of things and has various paraphenalia of her events to sell! I had a quick check of her website and didn't see anything, but that certainly doesn't mean she doesn't have it -she has wads of things that aren't on the site.

I loved Hoda as well - it would be great to have her on CD!

Isn't she the female singer on some of Yasmina's CDs??? Yasmina Of Cairo that is . . . . I need to go drag out the CDs to confirm that but I thought I saw her name on something.

"Hodda om Ruma" means "Hoda, mother of Ruma". Finding out her actual last name might be helpful in finding her as she might go by that on some recordings.

Yes, I know. However, that is what she goes by. I am not sure she has recorded much, actually. She worked with Yasmina's band in Sydney. Perhaps my best bet is emailing Yasmina.

I'm pretty sure it's Hoda (of the Farha Tour) on the track Asal wa Sukar on the Heya di Yasmina CD... but I think that's the only track she's on.
