Lyrics for Binti Beida/Dayatti Mali
Does anybody know where I can find the lyrics to the song Binti Baida (aka Dayatti Mali)? I've browsed some lyrics sites (e.g. Shira's) with no success so far. I know that it's okay to dance to and that "binti baida" = "white girl" but I'm considering performing this song for an audience with a lot of Arabic speakers and would like to have a more detailed sense of what's going on in the song. Thanks in advance ...

"Binti Baida" means "my girl is light-skinned." This song is very acceptable to Arab audiences; it was recommended to me by Dr. Mo Geddawi.

Re: Lyrics for Binti Beida/Dayatti Mali
Daya-ati malee - I lost my money
w'ana -amil eh? - What can I do?
El binti beyda - the girl is fair skinned
... felous - but I don't have any money (felous = another word for money)
Ya walad ana habeit - Oh boy I've loved
This is all off the top of my head from learning it many years ago. Someone else may have more...Last edited by leylalanty; 05-05-2009 at 01:53 AM.

Aurelie, it's on Metkaal Kenawe's "Sahra Seadi" (sic), and there's also a version on the CD "Asala I Live."
Thanks for the lyrics help. If anybody out there has any more, keep it coming. :) I'm going to be performing a Saiidi number at a university Arabic cultural night, so want to be as up to speed on the song as possible.
