Thread: do you ever look at your music collection and say huh?

why did i ever like that song or dance to it? and now what do i do with all of these outdated cds everyone else has danced to and where do i find new excitement ?

Ugh, I feel your pain!

My current anxiety is that my audiences loooooooooooooooove what most of us (myself included) would consider to be the Top 20 overdone songs. Chicky? They eat it up. Om Om? They love it.

As much as I try to branch out, I also know that I'm at least partially bound to the type of sound that my audiences like most. Repetitive, poppy, Hollywood....blah, blah, blah ..l;,

So I guess it's a matter of finding 1,001 fresh and different pop remixes to "Enta Omri."

I tend to buy a lot (10-12 CDs) at a time through mail order, so by the time I've gotten through the new stack, I've forgotten the first ones. I'll have a couple of early favorites, but I can go back and revisit the others in between listening to the ones I've latched onto first. It takes a couple of months for me to completely absorb what I've bought, and by that time, I'm ready to buy more new CDs.

There are a number of Arabic music (not "dance" music, but what they're playing on the radio over there) sites that preview new releases as soon as they come out, so it can be nearly a full time job listening to all of that. Of course, it's pop music with vocals, so if you are looking for orchestrated instrumentals for dancing, it isn't much help. Nevertheless, it does provide a constant stream of fresh music, and occasionally the old standards do turn up as new recordings.
