Can't help you with zill cheats, but if "cheats" work for you, you may want to keep checking for Artemis' zill speak CD (which is supposed to come out very, very soon). It will cover exactly what you are looking for.

Beyond that, when it comes to playing along to that tune, it depends a bit on which version you are interested in - the Mogador Band (on Fame and Fortune, a very American Cabaret interpretation) plays it different than, say, Kadir Urun and Deli Selim (on their Erdine Romanlar CD, a cool Turkish Rom interpretation). If you have not already, it could help to check out Shira's webpages for many ideas for playing along to an American Cabaret karsilama (d t d tkk). For a Turkish-style 9/8 (d t d tk), you can modify those patterns.

Wohooo, it's such a fun tune! I know that this is not a popular thing to say, but Rompi is my favorite song, and I have only once met a Rompi I didn't like.

Oh thank you so much for your suggestions! Well, the one I am using would be by Candan Ercetin, check it out on youtube. This is the version I have.

Ooooh, yet another pretty version - I need to get that! ;-)

Unless my feet mislead me (I am watching hockey playoffs in the background, which does not help concentration), this is a d t d tt (with the accents on the 1 3 5 78), so you will have to modify the patterns given by Shira accordingly, but that's fairly easy.

    How about...
    1 123 123 123 1 - 2
    (1) (3) (5) (7) (8) (9)

    or

    1 123 1- 2 - 3

    Hope that is clear...

It is from Candan Ercetin's "Aman Doctor" year 2005 They also have "Telegrafin Telleri" on that album, but it is Greek/Turkish version, very nice as well.
