Thread: Arabic/ Indian songs anyone?

Does anyone know of any good Arabic-Indian fusionsongs , think Nari Nari by Hisham Abbas? Or other good pop songs that would be good for a majority Indian clientèle?

It's not really Arabic at all, but you could probably belly dance to the theme song from Om Shanti Om--people went crazy for it on the dance floor at an Indian event I was at last weekend :-)

But Chori Chori by Arash featuring Aneela veers between Farsi [Persian] and Hindi, If I am not mistaken.

There is very little REAL Arabic-Indian fusion music.
Most of it is one of the two with just a bit of an "exotic" flavour.

If you like Nari Narin, you might like
- El Harba Wine from Khaled - originally a Berber song with Arabic-Hindi singing

- the CD "Indo-Arabic Variations" by Baligh Hamdi & Magic Khan - also sold under the misleading title of "Belly Dance"

This actually is a collaboration between Egyptian and Indian musicians and therefore true fusion.
I especially like Ghazairia.

Thanks Meissoun. It's not that I like Nari Narin, in fact I don't. I just have been dancing for Indian groups alot and need some popular songs to use in my animation section. Instead of using really Egyptian pop or shaabi I thought of trying to find some songs a little more accessible for these groups.

I will check out that album you mentioned. I also like that fusion song in your video clip. Thanks.
