Thread: Rico - cd with Ya Hanady (Yosry Sharif)

I recently purchased this cd from eBay for the Ya Hanady track. The posting states by Rico and Various. Can anyone give me more information on this? Are the remaining tracks by Rico? Who is Rico? Are they appropriate to dance to?

The cover is in Arabic, but the seller posted the following. Thanks!

I don't know much about Rico other than he's an Egyptian singer and actor, and he's similar in style to Saad. If the CD is being put out by Yousry Sharif in New York, then I would assume it is probably safe for dancing, since that is his business.

No, this isn't one of NY Yousry Sharif's dance albums, Tourbeau. It's the other Yousry Sharif, the singer, singing the Hanady song on the CD.

I should read more carefully. I looked at the first two lines of the contents and saw that it was a pretty loose translation, and just quickly glanced at the rest of the list. I know there are a couple of Yousry Sharifs in the entertainment industry over there (it's not a particularly uncommon name), but I was assuming she had bought some kind of dance CD. My mistake.

Any time you are dealing with sha'abi, you have to be careful. OTOH, Rico made a movie with Dina, and if the CD has songs she danced to there, then they are probably okay. One never knows without a good translation, though.

Yes, it is the "other" Yosry Sharif, not the NYC Sharif.

It isn't easy to read, but knowing what it is supposed to say helps compensate for the lack of resolution. The list in red on the right side of the picture contains the song titles. They're in the same order as the list in your original post. The grayish-white box in the center says, "Erga'ei Ya Hanadi" again--the title of the CD itself. Obviously it says "Rico" in English letters. Nothing on the CD says anything about Yousry Sharif, but I can't find anything that would indicate Rico ever covered a version of "Erga'ei Ya Hanadi," so I guess it's the original. I've combed through my favorite music sites, and nobody has any information on the other tracks. Sorry...
