Thread: Concert: Music of the Magrheb & more 9/15 & 9/22

Hi there!

My husband, Najib, & his some of his fellow musicians will be performing North African & Middle- Eastern music on Sat Sept 15th & 22nd (Northside of Chicago)

Held at: Pure Peace, 1207 W. Bryn Mawr, 7:30PM til closing.
Cover charge $12 per person, Children under 12 are free!!!
Refreshments will be served.
RSVP is recommended since the place only seats up to 12, afterwards, it's floor seating

Bring a drum if you like since Najib may teach a few rhythms beforehand. Dancers bring you hipscarves & prepare to break into a shimmy.

For those that have & have not attended beforehand, we've reformatted the event slightly. These events will be a concert, but in the eyes of the musicians, they don't like for the audience to JUST sit & listen to them. To show appreciation of their work, they would like for people to respond by dancing, clapping, smiling -- TOTALLY ENJOYING THE AMBIENCE. So if the music moves you, then get up & please don't be shy.

What about a formal dancer? Well, we've had several in the past & our feedback for the non dancers was that we had too many so people were kinda glued to their seats. But if anyone is interested in dancing, I am limiting the evening to 1 guest dancer per nite (I may or may not dance formally depending upon the evening). NOW, the requirement again is to dance improv & be prepared to dance for at least 3 songs- they can be North African or Middle-Eastern, you can request a rhythm, but sometimes, his musicians may not know the full music so song requests may not be available.
