Re: Dina song
Rico does have some albums out, and this song, "Khukhah" may also appear on a soundtrack to the movie "Alaya El-Tarab Beltalata" (although I never seen to have much success locating soundtracks from US importers).
I thought that looked like Saad El-Soghayyar goofing around in the clip (the guy with the two-toned shirt at the table), and in the course of looking it up, I came across this rather amusing rant about the movie: Daily News Egypt - Full Article

Re: Dina song
Glad folks enjoyed the link. I always wonder if people are going to scream "Off Topic!" posting something like that, but I personally like knowing that kind of background information about the music.

Re: Dina song
It's so comforting to know that loony "Letters to the Editor" types cross all cultural boundries. I literally spit out my mint tea at this part:
The one remarkable aspect, though, of your new film is how you pushed the envelope and carefully inserted gay subtext within it. The fundamental idea behind a man dancing provocatively in a manner that's impossible to consider manly is for every young man to accept his little Elton John with arms wide open.
Not convinced? What about the scene where the two idiotic criminals attempt to rape the rich girl's butler or the other scene where he bursts into a Nancy Agram song while seductively washing his laundry in the pool*?
This is too obvious to deny and I wouldn't be truly surprised if I find out 10 years from now that you're producing your very own, all-musical, “Brokeback Mountain".
*please tell me there is a clip of this laundry scene on YouTube!

Re: Dina song
I don't know. I come across a lot of singers like that. I guess if you don't have a big enough market or a solid distribution network through a major label, a lot of US stores won't bother to import your CDs.
I'm not exactly sure where you're located, but your best bet would be to find a little mom-and-pop importer who sells music and videos. They're usually not the most glamorous stores, but they'll often have a surprisingly big selection. Some of it may be bootleg, but you just have to try to buy the most legitimate-looking stuff you can. You may also have to consider buying on cassette. These little hole-in-the-wall places often carry hundreds of cassettes by lesser known singers and rare releases by big names. (I can wire my boombox to my laptop with a M/M microjack cable, run the data through Audacity's noise filter, and actually get a pretty decent digital transfer off cassettes, so it isn't a lot of work or money to go this route if you can't get a CD.) Of course, if you're not concerned about ethics, there are a lot of web sites that will let you illegally download Arabic music.

Re: Dina song
I've got both the DVD and the CD from the film. I bought them both from US Ebay shops.I watched the DVD and I don't remember those scenes at all???
I must watch it again.
I got the DVD from pyramid imports and the CD from Design your world. Don't know if they still have them.
The DVD has English subtitles so you get to know the meaning of the songs which is useful.Last edited by Candi; 09-29-2009 at 07:06 PM. Reason: to add something
