Arab pop favorites
I am in need of some current Arab pop music for a hookah lounge I dance at occasionally. It's near a university, (several actually since we have around 23 of them), so the crowd is young twenties. The lounge is one of the few places they have to hang out while they're here at school so the more current music I can get the better. It's nice to see their faces light up when you land on that favorite song from back home. Artists, CDs, and individual song names are very much appreciated. Thank you thank you!!

These are two that I have that seem pretty recent - at least, I haven't heard the songs on them a zillion times before at haflas or shows:
Now That's What I Call Arabia 9

(beware, track #4 is naughty, and I've been advised not to dance to it for ME audiences)

Maya Nasri has a new album out now and one of the hits is "Izzay Tearfni"
(Ezzai Te3rafni). I like the song it has great dance potential.Last edited by Michelle75; 08-25-2007 at 09:17 AM.

I wouldn't dance to Haifa's "wawa" either...it's one of those cheeky but very suggestive songs.
Haifa is pretty popular now; I like "Ya Hayat Albi" it's a good song, not too sexy and of course upbeat!
I've been wanting to dance to Saad's "El Enab" sooo bad! It's still cheeky but really cute and a very popular song
Those Now cds are great but because they're not made for bellydance I always look for translations before considering them - just a word of caution!
