Thread: Maqam Mp3--anyone do this?

I just got my Maqam email update on new stuff, & there's a big thing on there about the Maqam mp3 downloads. Any of you all buy the credits & do the mp3 downloads? Do they have new release stuff on there?

I use emusic and love it for classics, but sometimes I'd like to be able to get some new release pop stuff for the restaurant, since some of the regular, younger Arabic customers would appreciate it, I'm sure.

It doesn't look like Maqam has much contemporary stuff uploaded. It's mostly classics and belly dance music. Actually, I don't think I've seen any current Arabic pop come online at Maqam yet. Amazon has a few titles, but in general, the Middle East doesn't seem to be rushing to adopt MP3 single-song music sales. Maybe that's because they don't seem to be particularly hung up on illegal downloading. It looks like they're concentrating their anti-piracy efforts on ringtones, not MP3s.
