XM or Sirus?
About six months ago I read something, somewhere about ME/bellydance music channel on satellite radio. My dad just called and told me he wanted to buy me a radio for Christmas and wants to know if I want XM or Sirus? Does anybody know anything about this channel, if it exists, and if so where it is?

DH recently got XM radio... and there's nothing on it I would call ME/bellydance. There's reggae, dance(electronica) latin stations and world(new age) but... nothing I would choose to listen to if it wasn't his vehicle.
I'll just have to stick with my CD's.
Here I came back to this thread hoping that you had gotten an answer of some kind (and a station I could play when I have to take his truck)
There are lots of choices - don't get me wrong but... nothing that would keep me dancing in my seat.

I have Sirius (it came free with my new car in March), and don't recall from my channel surfing any channels with Middle Eastern music. There's an all-Elvis channel, a Golden Hits channel of top 40 hits from the past, a 60's hits channel, a 70's hits channel, an 80's hits channel... I don't remember the others offhand.
I'm not much of a radio listener in general - I'd rather listen to audio books. So I'm on the fence as to whether to renew my Sirius subscription now that the free sample is expiring. But for folks who like to listen to the radio a lot, it DOES have a lot of choices.

I thought I remembered Miles posting about this on the old Bhuz - turns out I wasn't hallucinating after all! According to this Biography on Miles Copeland:
"At the beginning of June 06 Miles launched his own one hour radio show on XM Satalite Radio's channel 29, UPOP. "The Kasbah After Dark With Miles Copeland" aired Monday through Friday at midnight on the East Coast and at 9:pm on the West Coast. It is the first national radio show in the U.S.A. dedicated to Arab Music. Aftger 38 shows it was decided to reorganize the show into shorter and more frequent segments for greater impact. We are waiting for the relaunch."
