I just got this CD. It is very nice. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. The only thing is that it isn't really all music that Taheyya danced to so that could be confusing. I agree the version of Leyla and Sahara City are outstanding.

Are the liner notes good? I'm thinking about just downloading it off of Amazon.

Does anyone else think that the version of "Sahara City" on this album sounds just like the version on Abboud Abdel Aal's "Music for Oriental Nights?"

Liner notes are fairly general. They give a brief history of Taheyya. I was hoping they would go into more detail about each particular song.

I don't have that particular album but I have his version on Arabian Nights. It makes sense the versions sound the same has he is in the orchestra on the Golden Era CD as well.

It is the same version from Lebanese violinist Aboud Abdel Aal, original album title was Belly Dance for Arabian Nights.
Also, one of the tracks is Lebanese, "Sahran Annil," and a few are from later, depending on what you consider Golden Era
