Thread: Tunisian recommendations?

Got a talk/presentation creeping up on me in which I want to play some examples of regional music styles. I've got most things covered but one thing I don't think I've got any decent examples of in my collection is Tunisian.

Anyone got any recommendations of Tunisian tracks that are both quickly accessible to a GP audience and that are downloadable?

Habiba in Philadelphia PA, USA has amazing Tunisian info. She has DVDs and is a true wealth of info. She might have something on her website. Might be worth contacting her.

If raw and folkloric is what I can find in the time, then that's what they're getting .

I'm only playing short samples to give a bit of a flavour and to illustrate some differences.

Don't know how accessible she is, but Leila Haddad is great when it comes to Tunisian. She lives between France and Tunisia - I have a few of her CD's and they are great.
