Cold Music Turkey
I did it! I cleaned up my 9 year collection, moved it all to one notebook computer and an ipod, downloaded the missing files, backed it all up to an external hard drive and pulled the plug on my emusic account. This took an entire month. I have over 6000 songs of nothin but ME music. At some point...enough is, in fact - too much. I feel good about it. Anybody else swearing off the addiction?

I haven't sworn off emusic yet but I'm reaching that point. I've got tons of ME music I haven't even listened to yet.

I actually have a different problem... My iTunes tells me I've got almost 2000 ME songs... However, when I put the player on shuffle, nothing new seems to come up...

I admire what a feat this must have been! I have a huge collection spanning CDs and 3 different computers, plus an external hard drive that has who knows what on it. I really, really want to quit emusic and organize my music. Your story gives me strength.

I also have 6000+ songs on my pod...but I have not stopped buying and collecting music. I don't think I ever will. I still have a small stack of lps to convert.

I don't think I'll stop buying music ever either, but rather than downloading like mad on emusic, I should go back to just buying CDs or downloading songs I know I want from amazon or something. It is a nice way to discover new music, but it's also annoying to DL just bc you have credits to use.

Re: Cold Music Turkey
That's very admirable! I have most of my CD's worth listening to on my PC now but so much music that I haven't bothered with yet. I just bought 7, yes 7 CD's and I'm debating on whether to download them or not. They are the BDSS 1-7 and most of the songs are just plain awful.
My big project this summer is to convert some of my cassettes to digital. I have the program but I don't have a cassette player with the right outputs.
LPS???? Damn girl! I have only a handful left but nothing to play them on!
