Thread: Help! Katy (or Katie) movie and/or song id?

Hi, all,

I'm trying to find the movie from which this Katy clip is taken (hope this link works):

I've ordered Afrita Hanem based on a youtube comment, but that movie is supposed to star Samia Gamal, so I'm not so sure I'll be seeing Katy when the DVD arrives.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if Rashid Sales is still around......Look up on a search. If they are there, call and play the music clip over the phone. George and his brother would do this with dancers. They can recognize songs. Amazing!

I can tell you right now, this is not from Afrita Hanem, Samia Gamal is in that movie, but it's a great movie so enjoy it when it shows up! I'm pretty sure I know this music, but I need to process it in the back of my head for a little while to remember....

Thanks for the tip on Rashid Sales! I found their website and will give them a call on Monday or Tuesday (I'm thinking they may be just as snowed-in as we are in the mid-Atlantic). If they don't havethis movie, I'm hoping they'll have something with Katy dancing - I really like the joyfulness of her dancing!

Sausan Academy: Store

Sausan has lots of compilation videos of dancers, including one for Katie, which is where I think I've seen this clip before. Anyway, in the credits, she lists lots of movies the particular dancer has been in. Her videos are a great resource for dancers who want to see lots of dancing by the early great (and lesser well known) dancers of Egyptian cinema. I can say for a fact that the Katie video is great, lots of clips of her dancing from a couple of different movies. Maybe you could even contact Sausan to see if she might be able to help name that tune. Good luck!

I haven't yet watched this movie, but I know Ketie appears in it: Ismail Yassin's Phantom (عفريتة اسماعيل يس) [1293/19C] - £7.95 : FineArt Film!, Arabic DVD . It comes with English and French subtitles.

I've purchased videos from both web sites and had great service from both.

Although I've purchased this movie, I haven't had time to watch it yet, so I don't know whether it contains the specific scene in you youtube link.

Sausen Academy has a wonderful Katie DVD that includes this as well as many, many other clips - thanks for the "heads up", JoLynn.

And, while it doesn't include this clip, the film Afreet Ismail Yaseen features a lot of wonderful Katie dancing. It's also a charming movie (I now have both the unsubtitled and the subtitled versions - I recommend subtitles!)
